Pirate legend hideout tdm zone

  • The other day I was down in the legend hideout and a guy ran in and we got into a blunder/sniper fight followed by pistols, daggers, blowpipes, swords, we spent about an hour down there killing eachother with every weapon.
I never realised what a great place to tdm the hideout is because you respawn down there and you can access it from any outpost, all it's missing is some ammo crates, I know you can swap weapons at the armoury to reload but a few ammo crates in there would be nice and maybe some other incentive to go down there and fight on foot, some commendations/titles to kill other pirates down there could be enough.
It would be nice if we could get on the galleon in there as well, that would be a great spot to practice some deck combat without a ship.

  • @best0fthewest I miss the sea of the damned sea dogs area in saving merrick. It was instant respawn and most people just went in there to tdm. Really made you realize how many people just want a gamemode like that. A bittersweet thought.

Honestly that adventure might be the reason i still play sot today. Yet some people in this community see the phrase "tdm" as nothing but evil.

  • The less Rare support tdm’s the happier I stay :3

  • @heslashthem Just straight up alienating a part of the community. No wonder tdmers become toxic, when you are being so toxic to them..

  • @heslashthem I'm pretty bad at it to be honest that's why I think a way to practice on demand would be a brilliant addition to the game also if there was a place for these tdm loving players to congregate there would be less of them hassling you when you're going about your own pirate adventures

  • @heslashthem TDMers get a bad rap but they don't deserve it

  • Would be such a good idea but on top of that make it so you can attack your own crewmates to practice fighting and help new players in your crew. I have so many friends that try SoT and then get dunked on and get frustrated that they can't really practice in a fun way. You either have to commit to being massacred by OGs until you get good or give up and lots of casuals who try the game opt for the latter. If they had a fun way to practice TDM and build up those skills, I think more players would stick around. It's literally sink or swim and while myself and many other obviously enjoyed the challenge of learning to fight on the seas, Rare could really do something to help the newer players coming in that haven't been around for years and years.

  • What if you made the sea dog's tavern into a TDM spot?

  • @ko-gamer462 I think anywhere would be good, the tavern is a good idea fighting in the pirate legend tavern gave me those real pirate pub brawl vibes, the legend hideout is a great place to practice with the water/ladder guarding too, I guess my idea here is not to add anything new other than a reason for people to go and fight in the pirate legend hideout because it's all there already and easily accessible from anywhere on the map

  • @itzeggward

I mean they kind of do deserve it. Especially when they enter hourglass and try to force it down my throat. If I say "no thank you" they literally run away and do everything possible to prolong the match instead of scuttling and trying to find someone else.

  • @heslashthem you got your silly flag, now tmd kids should get their stupid crate so everybody cloud be happy :)

Go back to protecting folks from duel option Xdddd

Jokes aside - it's sounds nice i tought about avaible grifing potencial but it's non issue when we swap serves as gloves.

  • @ghutar silly flag?

  • @ghutar

    you got your silly flag

    Care to elaborate?…

  • They used to sort of have this, you could go on the Black Dog, the ship that is beside the shipwright in AF, but now its invisible walled off. IMO, they should make the AF hideout a completely weapon free zone like the ferry. If you want to TDM, custom servers will be heaven for you.

You can already do that by just having 2 people who want to TDM docked there. The way people already do it with skeleton fort TDM.

  • @heslashthem Its funny that this is somehow the most understandable part of his reply

  • @captain-knyt

Just straight up alienating a part of the community. No wonder tdmers become toxic, when you are being so toxic to them..

Yeah, no. They’re toxic because they’re toxic, nobody made them that way other than themselves. Don’t blame me or others for someone else’s poor behaviour.

  • @heslashthem sure thing.

For startes im happy that theya dd pride flag so folks can be more themself in game.

Buuuut I poked and named it in that way becouse it's small additon that bring hapones for certain grup of players.

In essence it's same that adding a duel option or that ammo box - folks would be able play that tmds they want.

I recall most of your coments on topic as snarky or outrigh lying so I can't help myself and ruffled some feathers :)

  • Whatever makes you feel better :)

  • @heslashthem

    A in crew duel option?

  • @thamb0 I completely agree. I wanted the ghost curse, but none of my buddies wanted to deal with the "sweats" in HG. As a result I solo queued and got my curse, and shortly after some of them gained interest and I offered to teach them the ropes. Teaching anyone HG is a painful process, and it would've been exponentially easier if I could have dueled my crew mates and shown them the ropes that way.

And what happens to the people who want to go into the PL hideout to buy items, get their promotions, the Blessing of Athena's Fortune or go into the place behind the Pirate Lord ?

They can't leave when they get spawncamped at the entrance.

  • @lem0n-curry and how long do folks stay on same sever and how big us chance to run into tdmed hideout would be?

But it is poor bandaid solution - duel wouls be best.

But isn't that them saying "no thank you" to naval? You could just as easily scuttle and find someone else instead of chasing them and participating in the prolonging.

Running is fine & a valid strategy in SoT, just not when it's a TDMer sailing away I guess :P

I'm gonna suggest what I've been suggesting since Arena, and that's adding a TDM option to give people their TDM fix. Also if Rare wants people to naval, and not run in HG, then add a time limit to prevent prolonging, and score system to reward activity.

I don't think turning the PL hideout into an official TDM spot is the best solution lol. I also don't understand why they won't bring the SotD Arena tavern back. No one would be obligated to go there, or have any other business to do there. It wouldn't take up space in the main map. Players could use it as an opt-in TDM zone.

  • @theblackbellamy

I am very much willing to participate in finding a victor to the battle by the official means of sinking their vessel. How does TDM do that? And also why are they so keen on not letting me into their ship for this activity? i have yet to meet a somone interested in TDM who even remotely wants to set the rules of how a game is decided. They seem content with boarding my ship and sailing me out of bounds and if I try to do the same thing they are quick to run or send me off their ship with a blunderbuss while gaslighting me into thinking it’s equitable and fair for them to be on my ship. Pffff get outta here bro.

  • I don't like the idea of that being an irritation to get to in order to buy stuff down there. However, maybe the Sea Dog Tavern would be good for this, just one big tavern brawl all the time.

  • @rare-jumbie I mean I don't sincerely believe that first part of what I said (hence the :P lol). I think running and prolonging a fight is cringe behavior.

At least in Arena the phrase was "TDM or SC" not "TDM or I run the rest of the evening."

I've posted in the past about how I think Rare should add time limits and score systems to incentivize engagement & prevent those fights where one party just runs the whole time, hoping the other side gets bored.

If they were to give us a HG 2.0 though, I hope it would have some sort of TDM mode with its own reward track. Or just give us the damned Sea of the Damned Arena tavern. It's honestly the most fitting place for us TDMers to end up at, shooting each other for fun.

  • @rare-jumbie

I am very much willing to participate in finding a victor to the battle by the official means of sinking their vessel. How does TDM do that?

If they're trying to sink you, then either by fire camping you or sailing you out of bounds. If it's a friendly TDM, then first one to X amount of kills wins and the other scuttles.

i have yet to meet a somone interested in TDM who even remotely wants to set the rules of how a game is decided.

Most TDMers don't really care about the win and will scuttle when they're ready to move on.

They seem content with boarding my ship and sailing me out of bounds and if I try to do the same thing they are quick to run or send me off their ship with a blunderbuss while gaslighting me into thinking it’s equitable and fair for them to be on my ship.

Best way to deal with this is to stop caring so much, raise your sail/drop your anchor, and take the TDM practice. Not only will this make you better at TDMing, it'll take away all the stress of these fights and as a bonus, it makes the TDMer like you and they'll be more likely to scuttle so you can keep your streak if you have one.

Any time I run into these guys, this is what I do, and it turns into a proper friendly TDM/Camp War within the first minute. No stress, no chasing, just fun practice. And 90% of the time they'll say "I can do X more", then scuttle after X amount of fights.

  • @rare-jumbie lol if you wanna tdm tell them they don't care about you boarding for camp wars
