Tripwire

  • This might be an interesting add for the game.
    Add tripwire.
This could be set up to make other pirates trip.
It could also be set up to trigger kegs it is connected to.
    Might be fun.

  • Traps already exist and if they did that they would need to add a whole trip/stumble mechanic. They already have the limp mechanic for mobility debuffs from traps and high falls.

  • I'm well aware that traps already exist. I want the option and opportunity to be more creative than just setting up the singular type of trap they currently have.

  • Explain where you would allow them to be placed, how long the wire can go between two points and such stuff.
What makes trip wire better or worse? Would it also trigger by any player even yourself?

and the likely hood of this becoming like the Bear traps, used the month they arrive and forgotten about afterwards.

  • I think ultimately Rare would be better at deciding where or how long it should go. I was thinking it could be put most any place. Assuming the pirate is average height, I would think a max of 20' to 25' would be reasonable.
Yes, it would only be fair that any player, including the one who sets it up could trigger it.
I am hoping that being able to have them trigger kegs, blunder bombs, fire bombs, or even blow darts would keep them fun and interesting long-term.

    Ah ha....

Im sure they thought the same for Disguises, Bear Traps and Blow darts but you rarely see them used. If it doesnt have quick action or easy to use function (right away) nobody bothers.

25 feet? You could put that across an entire galleon deck side to side with that length. Maybe 10 feet, but then really it just becomes another version of the trap.

    Agreed, just like traps

Traps already do all those things aside from darts, which are a player equipped weapon anyways. Traps are also not really heavily used. I don't think this can really add anything that traps don't already have/have the potential to do.
