HAS TO BE A BUG BECAUSE NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD MAKE IT LIKE THIS

  • So I am tucking at port merrick, enemy sloop is at cannon cove doing the ghost fleet world event. They finish it and start sailing to port merrick to sell, no skeleton ship or megalodon, but i'll say they just got lucky. I always get skeleton shipped and i play solo. They get to the outpost and I pop out. I eliminate them both the first time, the second time I get eliminated. Thats fine, I parked my boat around a rock that was maybe 30 seconds away from the island.

Just as I start sailing out, I get skeleton shipped. Not them, the ones with all the loot and just completing a world event, me. The person with a smugglers paining and bottles. I try to ignore it for a little bit, because I want to fight the enemy sloop. Remind you, I am solo throughout all of this, there are two enemies on the sloop. The skeleton sloop starts shooting anchor balls. I just alt f4ed because I know a script when I see one.

This has to be a bug, because I don't think any Rare employee would program this in. A fix for this would be maybe the more loot you have, the better chance a skeleton sloop attacks you out of nowhere, starting at like 7 pieces.

I think it's more likely that your sloop was up for getting an emergent skloop for a while and that it emerged the moment your sloop moved.
The other sloop might not having a skloop on them as there was already another ship close by that had one; or maybe thay had one before they did the fleet.

    Pure speculation of course.

Having a skloop (or skalleon) appear only on those that have a certain amount of loot would just be in favour of chasing ships.

  • @throkopng I have noticed that if your ship stays too much time in a spot, as soon as you sail you almost get a skelly ship / meg spawn every time.

  • @throkopng

    It's called 'Getting Rare'd'.

PvE spawning on the solo ship while getting chased by a bigger crew. PvE spawning whenever PvP is potentially on the cards.
The other day I was krakened while getting chased by a galleon. Managed to kill it and repel boarders so I did feel like Chuck Norris as a plus.

Skeleton ships don’t care what you have. They are just pvp players, they wanna sink you.

  • As some one who has spent an inordinate time sitting for hours in single places fishing, @Blazebeard2313 is quite correct.

The game is designed to spawn skeleton ships on players the longer you sit idle or inactive. Their ship was in constant motion doing a world event and both you and your unattended sloop were stationary for an extended period. You ever wonder why you always get attacked by an emergent skellie ship (or less frequently, meg'd or krakened) when you leave the FotD after stacking for hours? That's why.

The game doesn't (and shouldn't) care about respective quantities of loot on board. You weren't Rare'd and no one ran a script on you; it's how the system attempts to prevent AFK players that are circumventing the Lazybeard filters from maintaining a presence on servers.

It's just the risk that comes with a failed tucking attempt.

  • I would've used the skeleton ship to my advantage, but that's just me.
