For the past 3 seasons, Rare has decided on putting nothing important or noteworthy in the game. Every idea they have implemented into their game has failed miserably.
Season 14 adding crouching, weapons that are only used in meaningless scenarios, and disguises that are almost never used by the majority of the player base. Quite frankly, it seemed like the season was for a minority of players who liked tucking.
Season 15 with the Hunter's Call expansion released 3 of the worst voyages in the game, a weapon that is so rarely used, and a curse that is ridiculous to get due to the niche and overall time consuming commendations.
Season 16 added 2 new reaper voyages which weren't awful, but added nothing to help spice up the season (adding skeletons on an island and counting that as the next major update is not the way to go.)
Season 17 (the current one as of posting) has been extremely terrible. The smugglers' voyages are just merchant voyage reskins but way worse, the gunpowder barrels are the biggest high risk cargo you can hold, and only allowing the items to be sold to smugglers is by far the worst feature this update could offer.
If Rare continues this path of lackluster content, they might as well fire their entire team because it is obvious they cannot handle a game like this. However, I can see potential that they need to maximize on, so here's what I think they should add to this season.
-
Unique voyages for smugglers that require crews to escort smuggling ships to different outposts while defending them against rival crews or other world events.
-
New cosmetics throughout every faction and feature (new clothes for pirates and skeleton curse, new bone colors, new ghost colors, etc.)
-
BRINGING BACK ADVENTURES!
-
An overall improvement to features within the game to supply more rewarding without diluting the experience or grind.
I can confidently say that if Rare does not step up their game when it comes to content, the game will surely die off with no way of revival.
