I think that a TDM or Ranked Hg mode would be amazing for the higher skilled player base, giving them somewhere to actually play and not just slam swabbies in hg or high seas all day. A ranked mode could be similar to normal hg, but with say a 50% rep and gold boost, and say 10 ranks for players to progress. The tdm mode could be a 4v4 mode where crews battle in hand to hand on various forts, or even custom maps made by rare for this mode, each team would have their own spawn point (use the arena turn in boat thing maybe) that could act as a safe zone for that team. Every kill and match win would net you rep for either a new faction, or for the hg factions, but less than hourglass matches. maybe add commendations and weapons for the game mode, like how tsd weapons were. I think this could do wonders for the higher skilled player base, giving them a place where they can actually sweat it out. I know that's not in rare's vision of sot, but currently their "vision" is killing the game, I think that fov was the first step in the door of this new sot, one that actually uses the amazing pvp design to its fullest
TDM or Ranked mode
@rocksinclair The TDM community is relatively small, adding a faction dedicated for this wouldn't hit the numbers, but you could set up TDM's in the custom servers soon to be released.
@kianonboard honestly at this point I just want rare to do something that would make me want to come back to sot, and reskinned ship decorations and off brand merchant quests really doesn't do it for me and a lot of other people. I think that some kind of pvp update would be great considering its been almost 3 years and 9 seasons since hg released
@rocksinclair burning blade is the closest thing to a pvp update we've gotten in the past couple seasons
@look-behind-you yes, I know its a lot to ask, I figure if we give them a ton of stuff to think about adding, then maybe, just maybe, they'll add just 1 of the things, instead of mmmmmm more pve time

PvPvE is the majority.
Making things specifically for either end of the bell curve is only ever going to please a small portion of players.
Sea of Thieves is neither a PvP or PvE game. It is a PvPvE game. The Majority is in the middle.
Just because you prefer PvP or PvE doesn't mean everybody does, regardless of 'all the people I talk to' agreeing, again, the vast majority of people fall in the middle, enjoying the mix of both PvP/PvE. As the game was intended.

Hourglass is technically ranked, it is supposed to prioritize matching people with a similar hidden scoring that the players dont have access to. I forget what acronym they used for it, but its biggest down fall is the fact that its a rarely touched mode by most, and it prioritizes getting you in a match over getting a fair scored opponent if theres none in que.
Seems players now days dont want that. They want to fight someone "Equal" of a mysterious skill level, on the high seas...but that cant be considered into account when Any threat or disaster can turn a One side fight into favor for someone else.
Which as you mention, Q times will be all over the place because maybe...some player is That bad or That good and nobody is close to your 'skill' (Skill being able to board a ship faster and spawn kill) xD
@zeyrniyx if it isnt a competitive game, why are there so many players trying to treat it as one? Its meant to be an adventure game with pvp elements but the players who are interested in pvp seem to play it solely as a pvp game. There may be some pvp players who also do the voyages but from what ive seen, they mostly stick to world events and attacking other players. Not to mention the fact that some players seem to be seeing more people who are exploiting the game, reports be damned

When I see players asking for a ranked mode, they're really misunderstanding SoT, so they use the excuse that HG has a ranked mode (even though in reality it's ONLY for obvious practical reasons).@zeyrniyx exactly! Those folks want to remind ayers that its a PvPvE, but forget to mention that they have no desire in doing the PvE portion of the game. Its one of the reasons why the player base has been steadily dropping to where the more solely PvP players are becoming more prevelent
