Shorten Ghost Fleets

  • Usually when a ghost fleet World Event appears, it stays up for quite a long time. I feel like it's less because of them not being fun, but how they take so much longer than other events.

Personally, I think it would really help if we removed the third wave in the World Event. We already had a "general wave" and a "(mini-)boss wave", do we really need another general wave before the "(Burning Blade) boss wave" comes? I feel like reverting a phase just feels tedious, especially to new players who don't know the pattern yet.

Even with just three waves, the event would still be pretty lengthy.

  • Shorten it. Also shorten how much loot you get then.
Balance. Less the risk less the reward

  • Go do them and they’ll disappear a lot quicker! ;p

  • If a ghost fleet stays up for a long time, it's probably because people are sailing through the event space. I think the despawn timer gets increased or reset. This applies to all world events to ensure that they don't despawn if someone is approaching or actively doing them.

If no one is there, world events all despawn at the same rate. The only thing that might keep the Ghost Fleet one active longer is it might have a larger activation event space since it requires more room for sailing around.

  • I don't think we need it to be easier for people to get a bunch of wraithballs

You should check the recent Insider Build then ;p

  • @drbensei And I think they should change it there too. I get that they want people to interact with the mechanics they put in the game, but wraithballs are just stupid for players to be allowed to use at all. I say this as someone who has never once had to fight someone who has used them. Wraithballs are a mechanic no one uses because no one cares to do a whole ghost fleet to get 4 of them, and when they inevitably are forced to miss because the waves are getting worse for some reason, they'll never interact with the mechanic again because it took 100x more work than it was worth to waste it to nothingness.

  • @potatosord So the argument is we keep a mechanic that (in your opinion) shopuldn't be in the game and (in your opinion) keep a World Event bad so they cancel each other?

  • @drbensei Having wraith balls as a reward for doing the reaper fortress isn't an incentive to do the reaper fortress. Most players don't even know that you as a player can use wraith balls. It's a mechanic that no one uses and they are just trying to shoehorn into the rewards pool for no reason other than to remind players that it exists. There is only ONE commendation in the entire game for using a wraithball, and it only matters if you have the Athenas PvP curse.

They arnt that bad. They should definitely stay rare, but with the increased number of world events in the game taking up the chance that the fleet appears, wraith balls are actually MORE rare now (until the new event that is, unless its already out? I have been too burnt out with what I have seen to keep up as much) just because the chance they even can spawn is decreased with every new world event added. Just depends how annoying the event is/how choppy the server is to determine if people even use them.

  • @goldsmen Doing the burning blade world event has always and still does have a 100% chance to drop a cannonball crate with wraithballs in it on completion. Maybe they have low spawn chances from other things, but the current way anyone gets them if they want them is doing the BB ghost fleet.

  • @potatosord 1. There's two. You have to hit 25 other ships (skeleton ships count) to 100% OoS comms, too.
    2. Can we please not mix feedback for this and for the new Reaper Fortress? The latter belongs in the respective Insider thread, thank you.
    3. You still only get four guaranteed Wraith Balls in the emergent World Event. (Dived Ghost Fleets don't have the crate). Yes, theoretically, you could farm those, but you'd still have to server hop and hope for another active ghost fleet. Far too tedious.
    4. You forget you can already get a ghost cannonball crate from the Battle with a Ghost Armada voyage - which is what people actually who want to farm it. Yes, it's just a chance, but it's only two waves and you can summon it repeatedly and even dive to it.

So overall, I don't see how shortening the World Event by a wave (which is still a third longer than the Armada voyage) would have a significant impact on the availability of Wraith balls (the Reaper Forts are a different discussion that should be had at the appropriate channels).

  • @drbensei
    1.) Got me there I guess. A whole 2.
2.) "You should check the recent Insider Build then ;p" Was said by which one of us?

  • This event was good when the head was speaking in the sky.
I clearly remember, you could get grade 5 emissary flag on it, now never.
Nerfed loot amounts either price. While event length kept untouched. With all this its the most dangerous event for an average SoT player, a little bit of bad positioning and you are getting cooked by armada. Only this event can provide unbailable amount of damage in a very short time. (few wrath, few rams)

Also noone does those, it happenes maybe 1 time in a few months when i see a playership doing Ghost Armada, and usually its just some clueless newbies who're just exploring the world and getting sunk in a few minutes.

Id rather like it to be gone completely, or at least revitalize it to a better balance of time\reward. As the players absolutely got no interest in doing these. As for experienced sailors it doesnt have any risk, neither any reward, as its too time consuming. (reward aint not worth the time)

  • Well I found way to get the ghost fleet to disappear. And it very easy surprised nobody mentioned it.

Complete it. Took me very little time and a better WE spawned up.

Bruh, you sit here for 7 years, making sure you post in every single thread defending the game and the devs, no matter what ignoring any reasonable arguments.

The whole thread is about How Long Ghost Fleet is, and you offer to complete it to get rid of it, what a brilliant idea. Real gem.

    You tell us that NOW?!?!
What's next? You're gonna tell us that you can also make the skeleton fleet disappear with that same solution?! :-P
