So, just got into the game for a little bit of Season 17 investigation. Here are my honest thoughts on my first impression of Season 17, Month 1.
First of all, the Smuggler Hideouts (which I have not gone to all of yet) seem very well designed so far. They are fun to explore and there is a lot of eye candy in their secluded caverns.
Second part is the treasure. I love the paintings!! The frames are very nice, well-decorated, but not over-done either. I am a grand fan, and would love to be able to unlock these frames for regular Trinkets sometime in the future, especially that Exquisite frame! The rum is nice, good design, though a little bit repetitive in relation to the Merchant Alliance rum crates. The Black Powder barrel is amazing as well! The explosion is unique and looks very devastating. I like the recolour of the Skull of Siren Song, the Skull of Siren Sorrow, despite its very similar predecessor.
I haven’t done any of the quests yet, so I won’t say much on those.
Lastly, I’d like to give a final word. While I don’t think it’s the absolute best update of all time, I think most people are judging it far too harshly. From what I hear, Rare has faced some layoffs recently, and I think it’s pretty unfair to ask a lot of them so soon after this blow to their team. Additionally, this is one of 3 updates for the Season! The Season is not ‘screwed’ because they didn’t add an entire faction right off the bat. Give it time. It seems pretty good to me. Overall thoughts? Pretty good start to the Season, I’d rate it a 7/10.
