Can the black pearl be ownable for players

  • If you allow players to become the permanent captain of the black pearl and have players have the option to have npc’s to help control the ship or players and the npc’s listen to who Evers the captain

  • Would this be a world event just like the Burning Blade or..... What would be the point of it?

  • It’ll be like any other ship that the players can get or charter but players will have to get a ton of gold to get the ship and it will be just like a regular ship in the game not invulnerable and it would be vary fun if there would be more cannons like under the deck

  • @europa4033 the point of the black pearl would be to make the game more fun and exciting

Ok, by doing what? You have this big ship with a crew of NPCs that you command as a solo, and what's the point of it? Is it a world event? Can people see you on the map and is the intention to sink you for some reward? Etc ?
Edit: you said more cannons under the deck? So, how many cannons are we talking about here?
It seems to me that what you're talking about is the game Skull and Bones, where all you are is a glorified helm and the NPCs do everything.

  • @europa4033 by being able to take down enemies down faster and just making the game easier for solo player's

This isn't Skull and Bones. A solo player is best on a sloop, not some huge ship that requires AI to help.

  • @europa4033 I see what you mean so how about this the black pearl is a 5-7 player ship

  • @bigkimusprime

... I'm starting to feel that you didn't really put much thought into this other than that you think its cool, certainly not with balance in mind.

That idea isn't really feasible in this current iteration. Try to think it through next time.

Yeah it'll be perfectly balanced for other ships on the server right? A solo sloop can clearly go against a 5-7 player ship right?

  • @europa4033 Here's and start, To balance the Black Pearl's cannon armament in Sea of Thieves, the game could implement a system where cannon damage is reduced or limited based on the number of cannons firing at once, or introduce a mechanic that increases the damage over time or reduces the cooldown after firing. This would ensure that while the Black Pearl has a higher potential damage output, it's not a one-sided advantage against other ships, especially smaller ones.
And to make it even more balanced you can add cannons below deck to ships like the brigantine and the galleon to where players have to push each cannon out manually.

  • Here's another way to balance the Black Pearl, such as increased speed and maneuverability, while also balancing it with increased vulnerability to damage and anchor-lock abilities. This would make it a powerful ship to play but also a dangerous one to engage with. But you can make it. And it’s the black pearl from pirates of the Caribbean.

  • And I know how players will obtain the black pearl they will get the ship by completing the lords of the seas tall tale and to make it even more fair you can add more cannons to the galleon and Brigantine and for both ships you can add working gun-ports that players will have to manually push the cannons out the gun-ports and open them and the same rule will apply to the Black Pearl.

Whole new system, just for a single ship against other ships. Not really fair that a single ship does this.

And to make it even more balanced you can add cannons below deck to ships like the brigantine and the galleon to where players have to push each cannon out manually.

At this point, nobody would wanna deal with the extra work.

increased speed and maneuverability, while also balancing it with increased vulnerability to damage and anchor-lock abilities.

Again, were back to where it be fun to have but end up being a waste of time to sail or even fight....even against smaller ships. It basically Sloop vs Burning Blade (both full crewed)

This would make it a powerful ship to play but also a dangerous one to engage with. But you can make it. And it’s the black pearl from pirates of the Caribbean.

Powerful (like the burning blade) and bad to engage with if your solo. The movie BP is nearly unsinkable, since it pretty much was brought up from the depths of the sea by Davy Jones.

will get the ship by completing the lords of the seas tall tale

    Easy TT

even more fair you can add more cannons to the galleon and Brigantine

But no Love for the sloop....

On Paper. Having the BP as a player controlled ship, main by players and Npc...sounds fun. But it will end up like the BB ship. Month full of fun, becomes an annoying ship, nobody will wanna play with it or on it.

the point of the black pearl would be to make the game more fun and exciting

being able to take down enemies down faster and just making the game easier for solo player's

Fun and Exciting for whom? The one in control? or the ones staying away from it? Or those who wanna see the BB and BP battle.
and taking down enemies faster, isnt fun. Im sorry. "Solo easier" is not the way to go.

Game is perfectly balanced ship to crew wise as it is. Bringing in ships with 5 to 7 players will just wreck the game.

If you have come across a Brig or a Galleon with 6 or more players you will know what I mean, near impossible to sink. Seen it in the past with some alliances, makes the battle very hard and they bascially control the server and wipe out all other boats.

If the Black Pearl did come in it should be the crew size of the Galleon/Burning Blade.
