Permanent Merrick Recipe Voyage

  • Hi,

My suggestion is very simple. Everyone I've spoken to about these Merrick Recipe Voyages have had so much fun with them. My experience is that it's not even the huge payout that these voyages give, in my opinion the payout should somewhat nerfed after the Fishing Festival is over, but the fun is in the adventure itself. Having to go search the seas for the specific fish you need, and figuring out how to cook them properly, and even deciding if you want to have patience to pull up Trophy fish.

The Trophy fish really make the rewards even more worth it, but the rewards are secondary.

These voyages are challenging, fun and exciting. Everyone loves them.

So why not make them a permanent thing? Bring the payout down some (not too much, don't make the voyage simply not worth the effort) and make the voyage a permanent thing.

Another way to make this voyage permanent would be to make the Recipe voyage the Emissary quest for the Hunter's Call.

Players work their emissary grade up, and go see a Hunter's Call representative to get their emissary quest (a Merrick's Recipe Voyage), just like the other 4 factions offer (Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance, Athena's Fortune).

Even with a somewhat (not completely) reduced payout, the Merrick's Recipe Voyages would be a huge hit if they become permanent.

Just my two cents. I'm a Day One player with over 100+ days of game play under my belt. I don't even think that the Xbox App on my PC even counts the amount of time I spent playing this on console prior, not sure.

    Thanks,
    Sgt Dartez

P.S. I have never seen The Shrouded Ghost. Please help.

  • @sgt-dartez

I 1000% agree with this. These voyages have given us something new to do, as well as getting people fishing again! The payouts can be balanced, but these voyages should absolutely become permanent!

  • I agree!

The Merrick Voyages have been a BLAST! I agree. They should be the emissary quest for Hunter's Call. The Merrick voyages are full of challenges. It's more than just fishing and cooking. It's a strategy, lots involved. Imagine you pick up your quest in the Shores, and on it, you have to prepare Lava fish from the Roar, for the main course. Pondies are often a part of the menu, but do you know where to find them if you're stuck fishing in the Roar? You have to do a lot of plotting, not to mention know the locations of the fish you need, how to catch them, and then how to prepare them to turn in. For me, the challenges were worth it. We didn't mind sailing across the map and finding where my partner and I could get all the fish we needed, and quickly. Level 5 Hunters Call seems to be a favorite for Reapers. The Hilarious part is that Hunter's Call seems to be full of retired Reapers. The Reaper kids find this out quickly. LOL

I hope that Rare listens and keeps this as the Emmisary Quest. These quests are too much fun. Please don't take them away completely when the Fishing Festival is over.

Another thing, too: Merrick Recipe Quests is helping pirates to get fishing levels up on fish they haven't caught yet. This Quest is a total win all around!

  • I really loved this voyage as well. And I love a quest that takes you all over of a remote spot totally requires some time. Versus the boar quests other fishing quests are quite quick to do.

  • AGREE!!
These recipe voyages have been fun!! Even if I did sell my trophy devil fish cooked and not charred then had to go hunt another one down. (Ugh)
Making these an emissary quest is a great idea. Maybe along with a “gilded” boar hunt with some of the more pricey treasure (eyes) in the wallow as another emissary quest idea.

Almost 400 days in game play without seeing the elusive shrouded ghost. 🦈

  • @crystaleigha …….hours.. not days! 🤦‍♀️

  • @crystaleigha Nice! I've got 120 days and 17 hours of play time under my belt. 120 days, 17 hours, and 3 minutes to be exact!

  • As soon as I saw the voyage, I was ecstatic. It’s been so nice to have something different and the mix of things, and conditions of ingredients has been great too. I would love for it to be permanent and have comms to go with. Love it!

  • I agree as well! I never really did hunters call before and I've had this game since release but the merrick menu voyages have made me get into it way more. Definitely worth keeping to keep those interested in fishing.

  • I sincerely hope that these become permanent. As someone who was around when fishing was first released into the game I have always loved fishing but couldn’t do it consistently because it is time consuming with no reward. The treasure fish voyages are a great way to make fishing in the game actually profitable but it didn’t do anything to help the normal fishing come back. Without the recipe quests being added with some generous payout or some cosmetics besides the legendary hunter title being added as rewards for how much of a grind normal fishing is it will continue to be a ignored feature in the game. Also, for how rare treacherous plunder is suppose to be the fact that you get no rewards and like no gold for it is practically criminal, please give us doubloons for them instead of like 100 gold. I absolutely love all the new hunters call stuff but let’s also readjust and fix the old features and items in the game so that it can truly be a well balanced faction with multiple ways to gain gold and reputation!

  • This would also help players slowly work towards catching all the fish they need for the commendations while also providing an incentive to do so other than the title.

  • If this new voyage is like the Fishing Event we had that was basically the Fishing voyages we have now....
It be awhile before they add them. :/

  • Agree, the recipe voyages are great. Would be perfect as a full time feature.

  • This is one of the best voyages I've ever seen in Sea of Thieves. This is how fishing voyage should be done.

  • Yes! I had kind of fallen off the ship when it came to playing and the recipe voyages made it easy to come back! They were easily my favorite voyage.

A young pirate who just wants to fish

  • @hgielyak9232 "A young pirate who just wants to fish.." TRUE MERRICK NATURE Right here! I feel this! Even though I'm not a young pirate anymore. Some days, yes, I wanna do insane pirate stuff. Some days, I just wanna go and chill and fish. So far, I've 100% My splashtails, stormfish, and pondies. Getting close to the others. These Recipe voyages really helped up my numbers in the Wildspash, Pleantifin, and Ancientscale departments. Got to work on Devilfish too, which is always so much fun to go to the Roar and fish.

Happy Hunting! Remember, just starting out, Safer Seas is a good thing. Just to get your feet wet. I started playing the game back when the Roar was first introduced and Flameheart's head was in the sky. (Wild Times) I stopped for several years, and this past year my husband and I started back at the end of Season 12. I had to relearn a lot, but was able to make Pirate Legend and now Distinction Levels in all factions but one. (I'll get Reaper caught up next season). Good luck, happy fishing and Yar!

  • Yessss. Had so much fun with them.

  • I also agree! These quests should be a permenant fixture within the game! If the payout stays similar then maybe make them an emissary quest once Lvl 5 HC has been reached. Really enjoyed these! Job well done Rare
