Order of Souls Voyage

  • You start the voyage with a bounty map, but it shows what grid you need to travel to instead of what island. When you reach the coordinates, you will find a stationary skeleton galleon that has a unique look from the regular ones seen in game and it has it's masts torn down from a storm or battle it was just in. That's why it's stationary. The skeleton ship can be anchored near an island or crashed on some rocks, etc. Players need to board the galleon and fight the crew and after a few waves the captain's quarters open and you fight the captain, like you would from a normal bounty voyage.
Once defeated he drops a map, an orb, and captain skull, and the ship slowly starts to sink from scuttling.
The map will direct you to a specific island. Once there, you will have to search the waters next to the island for a hidden entrance, (think of N-13). Once inside the hidden area, you will find a door with a place to insert the orb. The door will unlock showing players a cave with a captains treasure stash. Once you go inside and light the four torches, the door will shut and you will have to fight 1-3 captains and their respective waves of skeletons.
Lots of skulls will be laying around with mounds of gold, some treasure chests for carrying skulls, and maybe some gems.
Since 7 gold hoarder vaults exist, maybe they could have 7 captain caverns for this Souls voyage.

I wanted a top tier OoS voyage that wasn't strictly naval, like the ghost fleet is, so this is what I came up with. It isn't too crazy, but it lets players who might want some variety in their bounty quests have some cool new POIs.

  • i suggested a 'skeleton crypt' voyage idea awhile back that is like the wave fight from the tall tale 'art of the trickster' but with more loot drops

this fits with your 'doors shut and fight 1-3 waves' concept so im upvoting

i also really like the skullship anchored near a crypt idea but i would suggest that the 'orb ship' be a separate voyage

with a new unique 'crypt orb' that can be sold or used in the crypt to start the pve waves in the crypt voyages

this way we could also have multiple 'orb receptacles' in the crypts and crews can choose how much of a challenge they want...
(1 orb spawns 3 waves, 2 orbs spawns 6 waves and 3 orbs spawns 9 waves, with increasing difficulty and rewards as well as commendations)

(rather than "stacking vaults" crews could "stack up on one crypt")

it would also be really cool if the 'crypts' in the roar had a unique enemy
that was a firebreathing big head ashen winds skeleton that dropped the ashen winds skull

i hope you like my contribution/feedback to your great idea :)

  • @o37gekko Thanks for the feedback. The skeleton ship orb part, where you defeat the captain and get the orb was in order to make it a two part voyage like how you search for the totem with the compass and then go to the vault for Gold Hoarders. Having it separate would be cool too, but if so, how do you propose they get the orb to start the skeleton crypt? I didn't really follow the crypt orb part.. Are you saying we buy them to start it? Apologies for not following.

I think each crypt could be unique, so ashen crypts like you mentioned with the fire breathing enemy, and maybe the crypt in Shores of Plenty would be mostly regular and gold skellies with gold skelly captains the are weakened from water or fire, but over time they need to have water added again. The Wilds might be Shadow skeletons, with captains like you find at FoTD, and Ancient Isles might be plant skeletons.. each one of their crypts could have a unique look, much like the sea forts and inside the skeleton camps.

  • the first voyage is just the anchored skull ship with the skelly crew & captain fight
that rewards the crypt orb and some skullship loot (skullcaptain chest & skull)

the second voyage is the crypt where you use the orbs to spawn the waves of skeletons

make the 'two-part voyage' just two voyages, so you can bring more orbs to one crypt

i like your unique skeletons in different regions idea, but not shadow skeletons as the FoTD already exists with the lantern mechanic

  • @o37gekko got it I love it, and the shadow skeletons would be normal ones, not the colored ones like FoTD. Idk why I mentioned FoTD captains when regular shadows ones exist.
