Skull of Siren Song Idea

  • I'd like to suggest that, in a future season, we move the Chest of Fortune to the Skull of Siren Song event. Something like once the SoSS is turned in to Briggsy, a CoF is left on the ground when she disappears.

I think there are still folks out there doing the SoSS voyages intermittently, but it seems there aren't really enough to realize it's potential as a PvP focused voyage (from my own experience).

Adding in one of the most valuable pieces of loot as a reward would ensure crews are battling for the skull to secure the CoF, and would also have the advantage of the competitive voyage interactions spilling over into a race to sell the chest.

  • I'd take it as a rotation. Don't know whether they'd just throw the lore out like that though.

At this point, I'd appreciate Rare prioritizing making the voyage more appealing over strict adherence to lore that much of the community doesn't seem plugged into.

  • I'd love to see somthing like this!

It could be a really good way to show off all the sneaky mechanics as people hide at the final turn in point

I hadn't even thought of the stealth implications in detail.

Imagine setting a legit ambush at Briggsy, or sneaking onto the enemy's ship while they're distracted with turning in the skull.

  • They need to make it advertise. Regardless if you’re doing it yourself. If someone is doing it and picks up the key or chest, everyone should still see it. But they can’t turn it in without starting the voyage :/

Make skeleton coral ships spawn on players who have the key/chest and remove the speed reduction.
    Improve coral skeleton spawning.

Heck make one a X mark the spawn and the other map a riddle that describes an island and a skeleton coral captain has a map to the X on said island.

Make it more of an adventure to do.

  • @burnbacon there are so many things they could do to spice up the voyage honestly. Putting the map inside a world event/ship wreck/skeleton fort.

I'm not sure it matters what so much as they do somthing.

  • @Habiki Would be great if they added something like this, don't see many people doing the event at the moment.

Yeah, I'd really take anything to breath some fresh air into the event. But I think adding in the CoF as a reward could really make SoSS pop off. Those first couple of days it was live made for some really memorable moments.

  • Siren song is boring when uncontested, I honestly think it would be perfect as a raid voyage, if it's active in your server you know there's at least one crew doing it.

The key and chest should also always be visible to everyone "opt-in" should only be used to get the maps.

I also think randomly putting the chest and key in skelly ships, megs and skelly lords would shake things up rather than just digs. Maybe even have a chest that requires two keys occasionally.

  • Why they don't turn Skull of Siren Song into a world event is beyond me. Having it available 24/7 ensures that nobody is ever doing it.

I have been wondering the same thing and best answer I could figure out is because of the possession of the skull penalties imagine using the skull to slowdown enemy ships through boarding and use it to kill them.
Otherwise I don't know, we barely have people fighting over events and we end up with more concurrent events than competing players.

  • This isn't a bad idea at all. It should revive people's interest in the voyage.

    +1'd

I don't even know that I need it to be a legit world event. The way the voyage is setup now gives players more options on what to tackle at any given time on a server, which is nice.

An argument can still be made about whether the voyagr frequency should be further reduced, but I honestly believe it's too late for that to have any meaningful effect. To be impactful, that change would have needed to happen early on when the majority of the community were still working towards the commendations.

Having a bigger prize at the end of the voyage is the only thing I can see helping SoSS in it's current state.
