the recent update to the knives is stupid to say the least, all it did was make it harder to use; requiring extremely precise throws. I think the settings for the knives were fine as they were, if Rare wanted to make adjustments to anything they should’ve made the double-barrel pistol more usable in PvP
the recent update to throwing knives
@belphegor1384 the knives’ hitbox was way too big and now feels precise, the same way a bullet is. It’s not a huge object to be thrown around, it requires skill if you go for the throw. The change is perfect and doesn’t need refined.
The settings were fine, it took no real skill to hit your enemy, you could literally throw your knife like a full large pirate length away from your target, and it would still hit them. The only counter to that was block, which double gunners dont have access to, so you could just freely take out double gunners without having to even aim more than a vague direction and miss.
If you have to aim precisely with every single gun, then you need to with the knife as well, otherwise it is not balanced.
The update didn't make them "harder to use", it reduced their massive hit box.
Of course you have to be precise with your shots. You have to be precise with all of your shots.
It doesn't take much to get used to the new hit box. Just do a sea fort for a little practice to get a feel for it and then do HG.
The change isn't stupid, it's called balancing@tesiccl I was hoping that the size would get a nerf. It is VERY common in shooters for slower-moving projectiles to have an absolutely enormous hitbox and every time I used the knives I just felt like it was a much easier thing to hit shots with. It's ok normally but it has an insane fire rate and does sniper level damage so at least don't make the hitbox wild.
HOPEFULLY, this will put an end to people standing on sloop railing to get a shot at ladder with the knife because all it takes is two throws that basically cannot miss with how long the ladder animations are.
The hitbox was too big for the knives. They are supposed to be more difficult to hit with, which is why they can be fired more quickly.
Also when paired with the knives the double shot is amazing. Can more easily do full 90 damage compared ri to the blunder and one knife stab will kill a pirate after that.
Or one knife throw + one barrel from the doubleshot will also kill a pirate.
They were not fine, unless you were physically behind cover, you were hit by them (in enclosed space such as ship upper or below deck). Might have felt good to use but we don't need overpowered crutches to make up for lack of accuracy. Devs have confirmed that they were registering damage despite missing....that's a bug
