Why are there so many sea events

  • Every time I try fighting somebody, a random skeleton sloop or meg always show up to ruin my side even if im doing good or not. Also kinda annoyed at the fact that if you have enough supplies fights can last hours and some people don't have that kind of time

the random spawn of meg, kraken or ships is something that is, in fact, random...and sometimes happens after you do some determinated things, like two FOTD one after the other. if you do that, when you set sail to go to sell, it ALWAYS spawns a skelly ship (for me always happens). just two days ago, i was doing a merchant session, after that a kraken spawns under me, a player-gally show up and also a meg spawns. that a thing that happens in a complete random way. the spawn rate is in the same percentage for every ship that is in the server, so: if now the servers are always full-empty-full-empty for the diving mechanic, if you, a player, chase or fight another player, the percentage of the spawn of the thing doubled...adding the fac that maybe in this circumstance, in that moment you 2 are the only players in the server, the spawn rate is pretty easy.

    however:
sea of thieves once upon a time was a long session's game. just for letting you know, as a castaway maybe you're pretty new, for making supplies more than 2 years ago you have to do all the barrels from the outpost: there was no storage crate buyable, no supplies buy, no fill of the ships barrells, there's no fast selling at the sovreings and also the harpoon auto loading on the dock of the ship.

all of that for letting you know that this game is always been time consuming, and if for you is too much, probably you have to do, or play something else

    sorry for the papire

  • I think skeleton ships and megalodons spawn at a nice rate. Also, they don't show up more frequently when two players are fighting to my knowledge. I don't even think anyone has been able to dig into the code and peek at how they spawn in the first place.
As to the "lots of supplies make fights drag on" point. Right there with ya buddy. But that's so stitched into the foundation of the game that the only solution is to rework supplies and player fights, so I ain't holding my breath. Try to board them and keep 'em busy too force them to sink, i.e. spawn camp them. It's scummy, but it works.

  • Whenever I see megs/emergent pve involved in people's sessions in season 11 I slow walk to the front of the bow as King of Pride Rock instrumental plays and I embrace the beauty of life that has returned to the sea.

What if the Skeleton or Meg spawned on the other ship, would you still complain??

Depends, if you have the Right supplies, you can finish any fight within seconds. ^-^

wouldn't say im new but im just returning and have no idea how to change that title

  • @burnbacon
i mean i can understand their frustration when skeleton or meg attacks them instead, obviously I would prefer to have the advantage but regardless still really annoying, mostly cause I got like 3 different megs and skele sloops while fighting someone its kinda insane

  • Repairs aka Healing are grossly overpowered in this game.

But since the hourglass takes place in Open World (duh) there is no way to balance it without rebalancing all ship combat in the game, even PvE.

As someone who avoids pvp, hates being boarded and is generally terrible at hand to hand:

Spawn camping to secure the sink is absolutely not scummy

  • @bunnez2375 firstly you need to board enemy ships and keep the enemy from repairing their holes naval only last so long because its easy to keep throwing water out especially if there are 2 players on a sloop and I'm pretty sure the increased emerging events has something to do with people diving in and out if servers more server activity = more events 😉

  • @madam-salmon if the enemy ship has holes that's not "spawn camping" that is when the enemy hasn't damaged your ship and are on board just killing you over and over or are throwing the water off if your ship to keep camping you boarding to secure the sink is an intended feature and an essential part of combat!

I'm 100% with you on this it's only scummy if they refuse to let you sink

It's really not I deal with skelly sloop with 6-10 balls and megs aren't an issue unless you're circling in its agro range just move to shallow water ur shots on your enemy will also improve!
