Where are Adventures?

  • “A Dark Deception” happened back in June. With the amount of time spent on season 10, I was expecting some continuation of the game’s story in the form of adventures. They used to occur very frequently. And yet as far as I know, we haven’t heard anything about them this season. Controversial as they may have been, Adventures did provide progression of the story and at very least were a fun distraction.
We have yet to see the conclusion to the Briggsy and Tasha story arc, not to mention countless others. Monkey Island was fun but didn’t do much for the central Sea of Thieves story.
I feel like SoT is shifting its focus away from the lore that makes it so interesting which makes me sad. Will we see more Adventures soon, or is there a better way to progress the story?

I feel like this year has just been all about trying to fix major issues in the game and add quality of life changes, I've got my fingers crossed that next year we will be back on track, and the first of the new adventures will kick off the return of flame heart and set the story in motion again. I've got faith rare will pull it off it's just been a rough year.
I saw in a podcast that adventures will return (probably next year) but will have an improved format, better gameplay, and be replayable instead of dissapearingnafter a couple weeks. It's a waste of development to continually rush development for content that lasts a few weeks at best...I don't want SOT to become Destiny 2.

  • @retrogradeseal The best stories take a long time to craft, if it's over with quick, then we wont appreciate it. What do you remember more, the journey or the destination?

  • Think they said they intend on making future adventures replayable which is quite a design shift and they have lessons to learn from previous iterations. I do think we need flameheart back.

  • If ye look back, into Season IX, ye will see or hear that them trying to make Adventures "repayable". Which means, ye will able to do 'em again n again for yer hearts content in the Sea of the Damned. It also is a reason, why there is no Adventures yet.

  • @foambreaker unexpected Master & Commander reference - I approve!

(One of my sloops is named the HMS Surprise)

  • Hold on , hold on... i'm still thinking about a good story .

  • If we can replay Adventures, I would like older ones to be repayable from the armory containing all sorts of stuff from the older Tall Tales. As well as interacting with the Burning Blade to replay "Dark Deception". Would like some items to return as well from them, like Pendragon's watch. But if not everything is available again, I won't mind too much. Though I still would like some older Adventure content to be accessible again.

  • Odd to see someone actually care about the Adventures. A lot of people I heard dont like them...

    mainly because "time limited"

It’s possible that the old Adventures may return but the cosmetics associated with them won’t ever return.

The cosmetics were nothing special anyway.

  • @eagerpilot65104 I don’t think adventures necessarily need a bunch of new features; they just need to reuse features that have been underused, like cutting ropes from the tall tales, or the ziplines from Monkey Island. Working to add new mechanics in every Adventure would greatly slow the development process I feel.

Not all of them of course, though I would like some to return if possible.

  • @arthur79474 I am of the opinion that limited time cosmetics should remain limited, but they’ve already begun to bring back old seasonal content so I don’t see what’s stopping them from doing the same here.

  • @retrogradeseal Not only that, I wanna have some items to return to help incentivize players to play older adventures, rewarding them for completing them.

  • @arthur79474

The only ones that need to return are the ones that tell a story. The 2 community choices shouldn’t return. There needs to be an adventure that tells us what happened to pendragon

  • Only things I didn't like about adventures were cooperation requirements and rng drops, both of which they improved later imo

    the rest was pretty cool

it'll be interesting to see if they incorporate guilds in future adventures, could be for decision making or community cooperation, more along the lines of how community weekends work, then it doesn't put pressure on players that don't have any real power on servers while trying to participate but still has people working together for common goals.

  • @arthur79474 I think that’s a great idea. Good way to get newer players caught up with the current story

That I agree on honestly. Like Pendragon's Watch, it helped tell a story too.
