A Different Game Session Leads to a Good SoT Session

  • So today I defeated Calamity Ganon in BoTW and I had time left to play SoT so I hopped on to an open crew on my sloop while representing my guild, and I got paired with a guy who left like 30 seconds after joining. I voted up Reaper's cuz there was a grade 5 Reaper on the map that I wanted to alliance with. I was close to the Reaper when a man, would we'll call R, joined my session and we decided to sink them, which we did with so much ease it's funny. We took their grade 5 flag and a grade 3 flag they had and the other treasure they had, sold them at the outpost, got a nearby bounty chest, sold that with grade 3, then we lowered. Then after a little thing I tried to do, we decided to go after a nearby brig.

We got to the brig, which was had 2 squeakers on it, we exchanged a few shots, then they started to run. We exchanged some words, with them telling us they won't attack us if we didn't attack them, which is obviously, but we said we we're sinking them, and some other stuff. They then told us they would give us something I didn't hear in exchange for us leaving them alone, but I told them to drop their anchor and give us all they got and we'll leave them alone, and they did it without fail, which R and I had multiple laughs about, and we proceeded to attack them, and the squeakers were freaking out, probably thinking this isn't right. I boarded them after getting about 10 shots on them, I killed them both, and they sunk. We didn't get much besides supplies. We laughed about their dumbness cuz how do you fall for that when you're being chased by a sloop that says they're here to sink you? We then circled a nearby island for a rowboat and we found one, though it didn't match my boat but whatever it's useful to have. R and I then friended each other and then I had to leave.

I feel like that session was fueled by the positivity from beating Breath of the Wild and it led to a good session. Also I feel like this season has been good so far because I felt good from using an appearance potion, cuz I felt good by using it cuz my pirate looked weird when I took a closer look at it, and it's fueling my luck in this season. Hopefully it continues!

  • Great story, glad you had fun. Maybe Don't lie in the future and let them also enjoy their session. Leaving them alive while already having all of their supplies is the same net gain for your ship and you get to walk away as an honorable pirate.

At the end of your day, play the game your way and have fun

  • @captain-fob4141

I'm normally an honorable pirate, though this time was different cuz I had a taste for blood after taking down Ganon and I wanted to keep it going cuz I was eventually going to betray those Reapers when the time was right. I do kinda feel bad for sinking those squeakers, but it's a pirate game and pirates lie for their own benefit. I hope those squeakers got a little smarter from that cuz how on the Whale Lord's blue Seas do you fall for something like that?

  • @devtryak they fall for it assuming people are honorable. Again I can understand the blood thirsty part, and again you're free to do what makes you happy. But unfortunately play like this can lead to people wanting to leave the game and/or being salty about it.

If you always lie people will never believe you when you tell the truth, and parlays and other such interactions become less common.

  • @devtryak Just because some pirates lie doesn't mean they all have to. Pirates also had parley and alliances and treaties. They also raided more ships than they sank.

Also, people aren't dumb for believing a lie. If you tell me 2+2 is 5 confidently, then I would just believe that's what you think. So if you lie about something that's in your head, how am I supposed to know? They probably just assessed the value of their time and thought it was in everyone's mutual best interest to not continue the chase. Which means they considered your needs when all they had to do was keep running. Food for thought.
