Me and my crew of 4 have been sailing all day, and completed a ton of stuff, and grew our guild to have 9 members now. One problem, after all of that we aren't even level 2 yet, How are we even supposed to get to level 80 for the top cosmetics, especially if the amount of xp needed to get to the next level, raises exponentially I assume. I hope this really gets fixed like the captaincy trinkets, because we are trying to get that sweet emissary, and not have it take 2 years.
Guild grind is crazy

@tesiccl I'd just like to voice my concern and recommendation early, no hate to the team at all, and why say chillax, it just comes off a bit rude 😭.
They've "been there, done that" with a bunch of us. Day 1, sign in for the chaos. Day 5 sign in for the patch and enjoy.
Chill.
Affectionately lol.
@whalelordgames nothing rude meant by it I assure you. Honestly there’s a good chance Rare are already aware of the slow progression as they watch these things closely.
You are supposed to recruit people to a guild, not just have a single crew run for a while. Its a long term goal that is supposed to be completed by multiple people over time. Guilds in any game arnt made as a fast thing to progress, but as a group of people working towards a goal. Its supposed to take time.
@pithyrumble ...From years of personal experience (not in gaming but still applies) the Customer is very RARELY right.
Half the time they have no idea what they want but they usually want 'it' sooner and better.

Thus why i never intend to work any customer service positions! People are frustrating.

I can second this.

Oof. You lost a point or two lol. The customer knows what they want. As a service you sometimes can't reasonably give "it" sooner or better.
@triheadedmonkey yes, but an ongoing thing, shouldn't take so long. take the progression system in the game to get to 75. its a fair grind, that's what it should be more like. I understand its a hard thing to scale given every guild will have a different number of members, but maybe they can make the emissary available at level 1, so we get reap the benefits of the guild, like more reputation, earlier. Id be fine if the grind to 100 took a whole year, but I dont want to play 24/7 every day to get there, with my friends. and @GoldsMen it's about preserving the customer base. I am a long time player and have played since launch, but I have had large gaps between gameplay, because I have gotten bored, and so have many others. If you listen to the majority, you can get more people playing longer.
To be fair, @whalelordgames , Guilds may lose its appeal if the grind wasn't a decent one. And bare in mind, this stuff gotta be balanced for a full guild of 24 people and naturally, the more time and effort required to unlock the "top cosmetics", the more meaningful those cosmetics will be. Best cosmetics should always feel like you've really earned them.
I can sympathise about the unlocking the guild emissary though but I honestly love the idea that when I eventually see one, I know that that guild has really put the time into it or at least has some pretty good numbers. Could be a very useful indicator for a good guild to join.
And yeah, they could adjust the xp rate but personally I really hope they don't, otherwise they could be dumbing it down a little. Long-term, guild progress should really feel like a proper commitment, not something to blast through as soon as possible and then get bored with.
So yeah, I'll say savour the grind, grow your guild and prove that ye deserve the cosmetics and that emissary flag so that ye can rock them with pride.
@whalelordgames it's designed based on 24 members so it has to be slow progress. I don't mind it tbh
One thing to add you can raise another emissary and progress both

I understand the thought of long term progression, but this guild progression is absurd.
It's the same as captaincy when it was released, and they went back on some milestones that just didn't make sense like sleeping for 1 hour for 1 milestone
There are a thousand guild levels to reach, they have a good margin to work on future rewards, they don't need it to be a burden, the only way to make acceptable progress in the guild is with hourglass pvp currently.
@hiradc But they should think about guilds with fewer members and those in which members will not progress alone as planned, in my guild for example with 7 people, only 4 progress and only 3 of those progress alone.
I made about 4 skeleton fleets, 2 or 3 normal skeleton forts, 4 or 5 ghost forts, 1 ghost fleet, a fort of fortune.
(this didn't give 1 level)In the hourglass I fought a few battles
(I got 1 and a half level)@lleorb yeah I get you it's a difficult thing to balance. We did skelly fleet, flameheart, ashen winds and then stole a double Fort of the damned and were less than 3/4 of one level. That's just one sloops activity though.

Guild rep should be rewarded depending on the members in the guild. A guild of 24 people should progress slower than say a guild with only 3 people in as some will never be in large guilds. This would keep everything equal. Huge overlook by rare but im not surprised either
Sounds very backwards to me. Guilds should be about growing your numbers and being part of a community of 24 players, working collectively towards repping their guild and you think that should be punished with slower progression? All for the sake of keeping things "equal"? That's not equal, that's wanting to get all the reward without engaging with the main point of guilds. That's an oversight on your part, not Rare.
Most of the rewards in this game are designed to be byproducts of PLAYING over time, not hamster wheels to be devoured in 12 hours.
@look-behind-you
I can't believe that a moderator in these Forums would say this. You are really telling me that after doing 20 world events, a shrine with a breath of the sea quest, a sea fort, and killing at least 5 skeleton ships, 2 megalodons, completing 2 merchant voyages (lost shipments) and making over 2 million gold in 10 hours only to gain 2 levels is reasonable? There is a difference between a grind being reasonably difficult and long as opposed to just tedious and unbalanced. No one asked for the rewards to be obtained overnight but requiring players to complete around 150 world events (which are the highest and most difficult and risky activity on the seas) just to reach level 15/1000 is ridiculous. Especially if you consider that it is the same grind we have been doing since day 1. Saying that the customer is RARELY right is insulting to everyone engaging in this forum to give valid critisism.@look-behind-you said in Guild grind is crazy:

Did you really say that as a moderator when the MEGA SEASON you were announcing was dissapointing as hell? ill personally report you in the forum and screenshot what you said to email it directly to Rare cause you my guy dont deserve to be anything in here .
And if by chance Rare shares the same opinion as you. then the 15k population at season day release is a deserved answer !

That doesn't justify the current EXTREME.
There is a sane middle road.
@foambreaker Yeah I really don't understand why the people against a little change with the guilds, are filling their heads with delusions that we want it in a few hours. I just wanna grind a day with my guild of 9 and get to at least maybe level 5

Once the first few Streamers and Partner Guilds reach lvl 100
while the rest of us common folks are still at lvl 5 :PThen they will adjust
It's really just pixel macho design when it will take weeks or even months just to get to the point where you can raise the emissary flag. Compare that to how long it takes to get the emissary flag for factions.
When you consider the design calls for up to 10 distinctions, which is 1000 levels, that is just plain bad design.

That is how people "discuss", they cite extreme examples and then say no.

It's just how content "balancing" goes in sot
if it is released and people enjoy it a bit too much it'll get over-corrected to the point of people abandoning it or doing it much less
if it's ultra grindy they will ride that out and then often nerf it later, this part concerns me because it's playing both sides and leads to a lot of posts/messaging that don't/doesn't age well.
My personal opinion is that they try to do the long form story telling via content and it just never really is consistent enough to truly ever be that. Unfortunate and I don't agree with how it's often handled socially but it's understandable in the space that it's incredibly difficult to pull off.
They might do something like they do with HG and do an unofficial nerf to leveling and throw gold and glory/community day/whatever at guilds and people will just go for huge weekend bumps every once in a while.
