Huge updates needed

  • Ok I'm now playing this game almost 2 years plus and I've realised that the "changing pirate" option is not enough. Like it or not you made this to be faster but we complain about how much time it takes to find a good looking pirate. Pirates are the same from the Launch of the game. You have to put new stuff. "Wardrobe" for example? Before I choose my pirate I would like to see my outfits on him/her to see if they match they way I want. And of course less weird pirates please. Before I speak here I did my research and many players complain that they can't fully costumize their own pirates and they are forced to spend 2 hours plus to find a nice looking pirate through "create new pirate". You have to let this go and let people create their own imagination wether is a nice looking female pirate or a fully grown pirate full of scars. You created some very interesting npcs so good but you are forcing us to aged pirates and weird face presets. For some that is ok and thats fine. For some others no. This has to change immediately. I love this game but watching a pirate I didn't create not matching my style it's not giving me or other players the will to do things in the game. I'm surprised that this hasn't changed yet. You have so good cosmetics, and I can't lie I bought half of them myself. But they are a waste on a pirate that simply don't match the energy.
    Give fully costumizable presets.
    (And more hairstyles)

Another thing I see in this game as well is that items from previous seasons are not accessible anymore. Be the first to change it. Every game has this "stereotype" that basically says "if you weren't here it's your fault".
No, this has to change as well. New pirates deserve these items from season 1 to the current season as much as anyone including myself.

You said you wanted Sea Of Thieves to be the best pirate game ever existed? Then give more. Season Pass items should be accessible to the shop after the season ends and that should have started from season 1 without limited time. Not making this an actual thing is like "having favourites " if you get what I mean and the game should be fair for all since solutions exist.

I was also going to say that some curses should require less allegiance to get them. Not everyone was born a bloodthirsty pirate to roam the seas 24/7. Its a game after all. Not a contest. Yes PvP is the base of the game but how am I supposed to carry an emissary to level 5 for allegiance 105 just to gain a curse?
Not everyone is playing with friends and not all players are friendly enough to let you get allegiance just to level up and see things from a different point of view.

Season 1 players took the ghost curse by paying on a season pass but I am now forced to spend hours and push myself out of my limits just to get that cosmetic. Now that's not really fair is it?

I hope you to see and consider all of this.
The game so far is unfair.

  • but we complain about how much time it takes to find a good looking pirate

Haha. Never seen a pretty pirate

New pirates deserve these items from season 1 to the current season as much as anyone including myself.

And they said, past season stuff will return. Just how they are earned will be changed.

Season Pass items should be accessible to the shop after the season ends and that should have started from season 1 without limited time

They want people to buy the pass. If they come out without the pass, what the point in buying.

was also going to say that some curses should require less allegiance to get them. Not everyone was born a bloodthirsty pirate to roam the seas 24/7. Its a game after all

And you don’t have to be a blood thirsty pirate. Just play. Play. Play. Grind. Win or lose you gain exp. One is faster while other takes time. But end result, everyone is equal in acquiring. If it’s too much, your don’t really want it.

    It’s a game after all

Season 1 players took the ghost curse by paying on a season pass

What curse….you mean the PL curse? You don’t pay you unlock it.

how am I supposed to carry an emissary to level 5 for allegiance 105 just to gain a curse?

Who said “suppose” too do that? Where does it say that to unlock. Your getting a lot of things wrong here and it’s clear

You want things sure. Who doesn’t. But you don’t wanna grind and spend time ingame. Like z my many games before SoT, you have to put hours of gaming into it to acquire items. Of course thank god it’s not an item that gives advantages.

the game should be fair for all since solutions exist

It’s fair. But some reason gamers see grinding unfair to those who don’t wanna do it.
You want the perfect lawn? Cut your own grass

  • Who ever said it needed to be fair.

You come in as a newbie, and want all the goodies handed over to you for nothing. Does not seem fair either, does it.

You wanna know what the best is? I didnt even have to pay for season pass on season 1 ;)

One word of advice though - if you allow:
Asking for something politly is one thing. A thing I can understand, since Me and Friends missed out on stuff too. Demanding something however - just because you feel like you need it - is something different.

  • @yvnuyfb so, as @BurnBacon already said...plunder pass items will come into pirate emporium, just with a little delay
Regular season items come into the shops, just with a delay and some commendations to do to unlock it
There are just very few items in every season, that won't come back, they are marked as those
PL legend curse...just buy it, it's in the store at the legend hideout, don’t know what to do for it

  • @yvnuyfb who has been forced to spend 2 hours to find a good looking pirate? Was Joe neate stood over them with a cutlass?

  • There is nothing wrong with semi exclusive seasonal items, but the vast majority of items from previous seasons have already been long confirmed to return, only the few items named after the season wont return. Seeing that is what rare said would happen, they have to at least stick with that model or else more people will complain that "RARE ARE LIARS!" just because later they changed their mind.

You will miss out on some things, it happens not just in this or other games, but also in life, and it can really suck when it happens, but you can always get past it. I have reasonable doubt that you would even use every item from previous seasons since most people dont.

  • @goldsmen I'm always finding that interesting npc in the game and trying to create my own character like her or him. For me in this game is Bell and Bell's most parts were on previous seasons. Which I don't have access to. This must change. Its different in a game where you can convince people to bring them back and different in situations in real life.

  • @parrotlord6426 "I hope you to see and consider all of this".

No? I guess you didn't really went to that part? Next time then.
    It's alright.

  • @burnbacon [mod edit]
Perhaps I'm not wrong and you are wrong. And yes do a research and see how many people spend hours to find a nice looking pirate and yes they do exist but your hunger in things on your life definitely blinds you and prevents you from seeing details with capital letters. That's what I understand from what you are saying. And yes if they bring items from Season Pass to shops after the Season Pass finish they will not lose money and people will get what they want. Not everyone thinks like you do. Not everyone would wait just to get 2 or 3 items from the Season Pass for free. People will pay because Season Pass gives you much more if you pay. Its pointless to argue with you. Even if I give you 100 solutions for each problem you're still gonna find a way to find another problem. Thanks for the comment.

As stated before, anything not named after the season is already planned to return. Rare explained that system before even the first season. Belles hat was from a previous season, but it wasnt named after the season, meaning its already confirmed to return.

You are basically saying they need to change what they are doing, to do what they already plan to do.

  • @yvnuyfb said in Huge updates needed:

    This must change.

Rare doesn't have to do anything. In this case they have said it's coming back but they didn't have to. Plus, it's rude when you demand things.

    Happy Sailing!

  • This game has gone farther than most ever get to go. To say it needs huge updates is an insult to how far it's come from where it started. I'm just glad they are still doing more with the game and frankly we're probably quite lucky Rare are still able to.

  • @yvnuyfb said in Huge updates needed:

You said you wanted Sea Of Thieves to be the best pirate game ever existed? Then give more.

It went far beyond what piracy has to offer. It's been one of the best adventure experiences online.

How do I gauge that? This game brought in people for thousands of hours that don't even consider themselves gamers (myself included). People's first game experience, first online game experience, first time getting involved in anything like this before.

That's the experience that SoT has provided, something so appealing as an adventure experience that it called to people that aren't even typically a part of the gaming world or the online shared experience.

Live service games shut down when they cost more than what those in power want to spend. I think many (outside of the social areas) would rather keep this experience for as long as they can. It'll never be everything everyone wants but it's a lot of it, for many.

  • @yvnuyfb

Not everyone thinks like you do

The river goes both ways kid. So maybe you’re wrong and I’m right. Or maybe rare is wrong with how they roll things out.

In the end. Nobody should spend over 5min making a pretty pirate. That waste of time and gas money.

Everything is equal in the game. Shame you can’t see it out of greed.
    Peace be with you

  • I always hoped the main menu took you to an outpost where you shop in peace without getting kicked for being idle, change your outfit or ship cosmetics and select your pirate appearance whilst running around to get a feel for them instead of seeing them half naked in a poorly lit tavern where the models are locked to the same animation giving us no real feel for how they look in certain outfits or using certain emotes.

  • I am sorry, but I disagree.

Cosmetics that have been exclusive during a certain time, are exclusive for that very reason, because they are for the people who at THAT TIME supported the game, it's a way to give a little recognition to all of us who have played the game since almost the birth of the game.

If now the company has decided to re-release them (which I don't agree with at all) and you have to grind for those items, well, sorry my friend, it is what it is. I didn't play season 1 and I had to grind all 105 levels playing Solo Sloop to get the cosmetic, at least I have the option to get it when there shouldn't even be that option, that curse should be exclusive to those players who supported the company at that particular moment.

What's next, ask to get the ferryman set for free, the black dog too?

These are unique cosmetics that the first and most loyal players got, it doesn't make sense for a random who just got them just because, that's disrespecting those who supported this project from the beginning.

I don't care if you get the crypt sails, or the veils cheesing the game, everyone plays as they want, but to demand exclusive rewards for the sake of it, I'm sorry but there's a limit.

Exclusives are exclusive for a reason, because not everyone can own them.

  • I will agree that SoT's character creation is unique... and imho not in a good way.

Basically forcing people to choose from random rolls on everything from height to weight to faces to scars... I really dont understand what they were going for here, but my $0.02 I dont like it either.

As for the rest of OP's rant; TLDR
