My suggestions!!!

  • Hi, I've seen a lot of people ("players") here attacking other players that only want one thing: more content and transparency from the devs...

I will make it short, a list to things I want the most.

    • feedback on Discord (needed)

    • more community days

    • plunder pass more frequently

    • more FOV! ASAP (No reason to not have it)

    • when a player kills you a tiny screen with they skin and a button to report if that person cheats (many cheaters I've seen)

    • not having to do the tale 5 times? (Gold compensation)

    • The possibility to save at least 5 (or more) different outfits for a quick change of clothes. The game provides a wide variety of cosmetics and it's quite inconvenient to change all of them every single time.

    • more events in the sea (sea serpent, there are only two events right now)

    • more songs to play with friends

    • customization to the form of the ship (for example in a Galleon changing the form of the front and back and it will be like another ship but at the same time is the same!) That way we would see more variety!

    • more things to do in the ship, cleaning for example. Not entirely gameplay needed for combat but it is another thing to do in your home.

    • I'm not sure about this because I have all of the sunken kingdom things but you know when you are in the matchmaking for pvp? Well the ship can sunk by syrens leaving a great mark in the water all the time but players can't shoot you, when the ship leaves out players could be waiting for you (I want a commodity for people that do this events alone)

    • Owls? 😵‍💫

    • One Piece right now! 😀

Look, this is not a well prepared and civilized post, I don't have the answers but seeing that they will implement PvE servers and a little content leaves me thinking. I don't share the feeling about PvE servers, the seas have to be danger and no, I don't want to discuss this here, in change I want your support. What other things do you want for the game?

Picture the endless reports of a good player and assuming

not having to do the tale 5 times? (Gold compensation

You don’t have too. It’s only for those who really. Really want the curse. Hard work pays

more FOV! ASAP (No reason to not have it)

Give reason to have it first

more events in the sea (sea serpent, there are only two events right now)

Fleet, Forts, FotD, FoF, Ashen Lord, Phantom fleet, Meg, Kraken. Seems more than two

  • @burnbacon Hi, how are you? :D
    Sorry for the late response...

I will try to answer your responses but the thing is... you didn't share any ideas for the game... Try to share some please.

    • Picture the endless reports of a good player and assuming
Yes, this is true, perhaps is not the way but we need some UI to be able to report someone, I saw good players and always said 'GG' to them, but people making TP or spawning barrels in your ship is another BIG deal (and kind of recurrent in this game - among many others -)

-You don’t have too. It’s only for those who really. Really want the curse. Hard work pays
This is true, but I still don't feel like is the way, I'm not the only one who wants a change in this matter and I already have the curses, the problem is for the people who are starting and they hate to repeat the same quest for that, is an undeniable problem the game has.

-About the FOV: "Give reason to have it first"
The main reason is people have periferic view, almost everygame lets you change this; the FOV in 90º don't feel like other games and it's another thing requested for many players, players who I remind you... payed, play and love the game the same we do! :)

    • Fleet, Forts, FotD, FoF, Ashen Lord, Phantom fleet, Meg, Kraken. Seems more than two
Great answer, again, against more content, don't know why! Look, I'm talking about the sea beasts, no events in total, my bad there! A Sea serpent for example would be GREAT!

Please, share something, I don't want people only against ideas who are only trying to improve our beloved Sea of Thieves.

  • @stomno That's precisely why they don't let you adjust FOV or brightness. It would allow players to give themselves an advantage over those who don't set their FOV to 120 with a superwide monitor.

  • @burnbacon said in My suggestions!!!:

There's a thing called motion sickness you know, why do you think it's one of the most requested accessibility feature?
Have you ever played on a monitor? A monitor is very close to your eyes compared to a TV, 90% of people ask for a higher FOV because it's uncomfortable to the eyes and can lead to motion sickness for some people, the other 10% are sweats who want an insignificant advantage.
The current SOT FOV is not even a real 90, it's been calculated to actually be a standard 78.

Sit further away from your screen if you’re experiencing motion sickness and/or blink every so often…

The current SOT FOV is not even a real 90, it's been calculated to actually be a standard 78.

Anything above 90 looks broken and messy so 90 is the max for a reason.

    [Mod edit]

  • Dropping a reminder to keep to the topic at hand rather than trying to insult each other.

  • Have you ever played on a monitor? A monitor is very close to your eyes compared to a TV

My Monitor is my Tv and my tv is my monitor. Its sitting in front of me right now, but I have enough sense to not sit so close in my chair. Now some people "have to sit" close to see, which to them I have to say you might wanna reconsider that. So close is bad for your eyes.

90% of people ask for a higher FOV because it's uncomfortable to the eyes and can lead to motion sickness for some people, the other 10% are sweats who want an insignificant advantage.

Where you get that %? I need data to confirm this. Again, try sitting further back, wear some glasses that reduce the glow of the monitor.
SoT isnt only game that caps at 90 fov and nobody seems to complain. Sorry but the ones who really want 90+ fov are those who wish to see 'behind them' while at the wheel. Sorry but its the truth.

SoT has made adjustments to motion sickness, sorry if the fov causes you more pain. You may have to start taking more breaks to let your eyes rest (MS cure)

  • Swab the decks is not an activity I want in my pirate fantasy game.

You really want me to pretend to mop? My guy.

There are also many ways to combat video game motion sickness without changing fov. Lighting in your environment can have as much to do with it as getting more than 2 inches away from your screen.

  • @pithyrumble swab a deck is fine idea for free emote.

  • Just want to say that 10% of players is still a very large number of people. I play on a regular, non-gaming monitor that caps at 60 fps. I don't get motion sick.

    I'm not a scottsman either.

  • The ability to modify FoV beyond the in-game limits was never intentional and has been removed in order to restore the intended settings of Sea of Thieves.

The game is designed for 90 FoV Maximum, anything beyond that looks distorted and broken.

There are no intentions to change this in future.

This thread is not a thread about FoV.

If it turns into one, it will be locked.

About the FOV guys... I don't want a fight about that, I don't understand why there's a fight. If you don't want more FOV that's ok, but a lot of people want that and the 90º that are in game are not real 90º, please understand! Don't care if the devs don't want to see that problem, here we are to talk about what WE want.

    Hi, how are you?
Look man, this thread is not about what you don't want, add something. That the ship is going dirt by usage is showing you that the ship is still up and would be fun! If you don't add this ok, but just add an idea!

Adding to the post, I saw another post about pirate lairs, that would be awesome as well... A place to have things with your friends and gather treasures for example. Could be in not annoted islands or new places!
I'm sad about the first thing I've said in this post it's true.

    Come on, be more possitive!

  • ok, so, the only thing out of your many ideas that I could go along with is: Different ship pieces for front and back that are the same ship type - but different looking. This would be cool for personal customization and would also make the seas a little bit more "diverse" imo.
That, and maybe the sea serpent if implemented in a cool way. Multi-Ship voyage quest into the shroud or something would be cool.

One hint: This a "forum" - forum per definition does mean: Discussions, debating.
People do not need to add anything to your list (it is alrdy too much for one thread anyway), they can simply elaborate on it and speak their own judgment on it.
And also: Plz dont "shout" - we can read you, and typing with letters big enough for 90y olds to read is nice - but also comes across a little bit aggressive. And it does not strenghen your point to just shout it as loud as you can.

  • @burnbacon said in My suggestions!!!:

That's not a monitor and doesn't act like one, a monitor averages 24 inches and is meant to be used up close, the screen of a monitor is different from those of TVs.
Also the sitting close to a TV or monitor being bad for your eyes is a myth, it's 2023 we don't use vintage TVs anymore.

Again, try sitting further back, wear some glasses that reduce the glow of the monitor.

Sure, I'm going to sit back and use a mouse and keyboard on my lap instead of my desk do you listen to yourself? Ever heard of the Dunning–Kruger effect?

  • @parrotlord6426 Sorry about the big letters hehe I don't see where is my aggressive behaviour tho.
About people discussions, debating... This is my thread and I want to encourage people to try / add ideas the most, because if not, things like the FOV fight is happening later and other people can close the thread, that's aggressive! :)

  • Here's a screenshot that I use as my desktop background in work. This is at the intended 90 degrees, but you can clearly see the barrels on the left are already looking a tad warped. Any more than 90 degrees and things on the edge of the screen will have a very noticeable fisheye lens effect on them.

    alt text

So, yes, it's partly for balance but also because the game would look wrong and Rare want to maintain quality control.

Regarding whether it's a true 90 degrees, the angle is determined by the optimum viewing distance and is dependent on your screen size. You can use the Pythagorean theorem to determine the ideal distance you should be sitting from the screen for a comfortable viewing experience and for the FOV to look correct - the wider the screen, the further you should sit.

According to Rare, the game meets accessibility standards.

  • @realstyli Man, you're doing on purpose. The FOV things is out. The users won't going to make a pythagorean theorem or numerology to the game, they just want to play and it is a big requested thing you want it or not. Please, I encourage people to leave the FOV thing aside and just share your ideas or if anyone wants something I shared like @ParrotLord6426

  • @riahi-jr Well, not really. Blue and purple lights really are bad for your eyes and a screen which produces direct light will produce more lights than say, a brick wall. It isn't like you're staring at the sun, but it isn't great. Monitors and TVs now are conscious of this and try to meet standards. But you're still better off with the wall.

Ironic for you to invoke Duning-Kruger here.

  • About the FOV
About the FOV and to end that discussion.

  • @stomno You really gotta stop saying that, man lol.

  • Okay, since you asked...

    • feedback on Discord (needed)

Not against it, but if people want it then, sure...

    • more community days

If they don't increase the Emissary value, okay. We already see inflated ledgers for months with Community Days, and it shouldn't mean those who are lucky enough to sail those days have a leg up on those who can't.

    • plunder pass more frequently

When the seasons are a normal length, this shouldn't be a problem. But I'm open to the idea of an extension if a Season is going to run longer.

    • more FOV! ASAP (No reason to not have it)

No. Already addressed this. It would require a major rework of the camera system in order for it not to look warped and incorrect.

    • when a player kills you a tiny screen with they skin and a button to report if that person cheats (many cheaters I've seen)

Not sure if this is the answer, but reporting cheaters should be more straightforward. Evidence is still essential to the process though.

    • not having to do the tale 5 times? (Gold compensation)

There are ways around this, if you have friends who play. As someone who did the original Tall Tales mostly solo, yeah, they did become repetitive after the second run. That said, Rare has learned and not included such commendations in more recent Tall Tales.

    • The possibility to save at least 5 (or more) different outfits for a quick change of clothes. The game provides a wide variety of cosmetics and it's quite inconvenient to change all of them every single time.

This comes up often and I'm always in favour of this. Mike Chapman has said that it's on the list of things they want to do.

    • more events in the sea (sea serpent, there are only two events right now)

More sea monsters would be great, would love to see something massive that would require multiple crews to defeat, like the OG Hungering One. A raid-style event is my dream.

    • more songs to play with friends

If memory allows it, sure. But the game is always trying to be balanced against memory constraints (see the recent documentary).

    • customization to the form of the ship (for example in a Galleon changing the form of the front and back and it will be like another ship but at the same time is the same!) That way we would see more variety!

Again, if memory allows it. Even if it's just subtle layout variety, would be nice.

    • more things to do in the ship, cleaning for example. Not entirely gameplay needed for combat but it is another thing to do in your home.

Not my cup of tea, but sure.

Don't know exactly what is being requested here...

    • Owls? 😵‍💫

Already confirmed as in the works.

    • One Piece right now! 😀

Talk to Eiichiro Oda, this isn't just something Rare can magically add to the game. It needs a deal to be made.

  • @crowedhunter said in My suggestions!!!:

Ironic for you to invoke Duning-Kruger here.

Raising a strawman wasn't enough you had to bring a wall to a discussion about monitors and TVs, this is the equivalent of hijacking a discussion about the relation between consuming food and cancer and say "actually if you don't eat anything you won't ever contract cancer 🤓"
By that logic everything is bad for you even sunlight. A TV will never give you uncurbable instances that can't be fixed by an optician visit, are you really going to compare the risks of a TV to the permanent eye-blindness your parents use to warn you 20 years ago?

    • The possibility to save at least 5 (or more) different outfits for a quick change of clothes. The game provides a wide variety of cosmetics and it's quite inconvenient to change all of them every single time.

Along with this, I would love to have the possibility to save ship customization as well. At least 3 or 5 as well, since we have so many different aesthetics.

I also agree with all other items. I was glad to read a couple of them are already in the works.
