Reduce Volcano AimBot Hacks - Confirmed AimBot

  • It’s probably been said a thousand times, and yeah I know the Devil's Roar is supposed to be dangerous. But it’s honestly extreme and it is specifically targetting ships.

I figured I would be safe to stop for a moment to deal with a pirate captain while a volcanos in the distance was erupting.
    Cinder Islet
As seen here, I was a full island over (opposite side of said island).

I jumped on shore, and started fighting and I'll be damned if I didn't see a massive boulder hit my ship. Fine. I'll swim over and fix it befor.... another one hits. Well that's unlucky. I continue to swim over to the ship and it gets hit AGAIN! THREE times before I swam back to my ship. And make things worse, as I finished the repairs, it literally hit the ship 3 more times! This 100% confirms that the volcanoes are not random!

I know I know. The Devil's Roar is supposed to be chaotic. I get it. But knowing that the volcanoes are actually aiming for the ships?!

Let's turn that down a little please. It's honestly excessive, and not fun gameplay. It's no wonder I never see anybody in there...

  • Let's turn that down a little please

Any lower then it be a safe haven.

It's no wonder I never see anybody in there...

That why it the best place.

  • @aubination trust us buddy, it used to be a lot worse. This is tame.

  • I will share a secret. Don't be predictable. They work like a home seeking missile or whatever you call it. They will target your trajectory. If you are unpredictable, you won't get hit once.

  • @zig-zag-ltu THIS!

    Serpentine!

  • @aubination "...This 100% confirms that the volcanoes are not random!..."

So it is impossible to be random if the system randomly makes 3 hits?

    Sorry your ship sank...

  • What it's like nowadays is a mere fraction of what it used to be. I think it's in quite a good point currently, plenty of rocks hit and the closer you are of course the more dangerous it's gonna be. The rest is up to you really.

The reason nobody goes there is due to lack of updates and lack of REASON to go there. As the game evolves, the best money maker is going to be the biggest attraction, so as having 1.5x bonus to super basic loot isn't enough to sway the interest in the direction of the Roar. It's wildly inconvenient to get there as they seem to refuse to let us just spawn in there, making it not a worthwhile venture to keep server hopping until you reach Ancient Spire and then sail all the way to Morrows AND THEN start your actual gameplay

  • Buddy, this the baby version.

  • Cackling because I know exactly where he got hit.

I get hit there too 😂

  • I do think there should be a total rebalance of the roar, because it could be good, but unlike all other natural hazards in the game, the roars hazards just feel too artificial and excessive.

If it didnt feel so artificial, it would be fine to me, but rocks that constantly target ships, and geysers that sprout every 5 feet and where ever a player decides to take a second to dig, while spraying every other second over and over just feels way too forced and is extremely immersion breaking.

  • @goldsmen I always liked the idea of what you suggested. Rare could easily create some adventure that leads to the whole Devils Roar calming down. In turn properly expanding the playable map, leaving the visuals obviously, but removing the annoying environmental hazards. The volcanoes could still erupt each time a world event is completed there, but more for visual purposes rather than to annoy anyone there. At the moment, the 'meta' game only happens around the rest of the map, Devils Roar is forgotten by most pirates and as you mentioned - for very good reasons.

I dont think it needs to be made safer in specific, just rebalanced so the difficulty there doesnt feel so artificial, because at the moment it feels too forced and unnatural.

  • Yeah, but when you got a bunch of gold skellies, no food, ammo ir firebombs those geysers always get scarce on me.

    Leave it alone lol

  • @goldsmen I dare to disagree. With current mob spawns it would make sense. I dont know if the devs were able to see the future and create an area taking up so many resources that nobody wants to play in? Wouldnt make sense, right? And we can all agree that its a useless area atm, you never see much action there.

Making the area tame would give a "real" map expansion, more world events could spawn there. Perhaps reduced geysers and volcanoes would open up space for 1 more ship?

once again i dont mean turn them 100% off but they shouldnt start when player gets on an island. They should serve as distant decorations and perhaps set of for real if a world event is finished. My opinion and my money on this idea, I think it would help the game grow.

  • I did my first stints in the Roar a couple of weeks ago after coming back to the game. This is one of those things where you might need to be taught a few things to learn. I certainly did and now I know better.

Sitting in one place anywhere near an eruption applies multipliers to randomness. The warning(s) are/is not for show. It's a dangerous environment. Sometimes you are not going to be able to stop to fight a megalodon or dive a wreck, or get every bit off an island that is deciding its time to evict you.

uhm, I cannot figure out: is that a joke, or does it actually help?

If It actually helps, and if the Rocks are actually targetting movement like NPCs shooting cannons, isnt that something odd.

I can certainly agree with @GoldsMen:

just rebalanced so the difficulty there doesnt feel so artificial, because at the moment it feels too forced and unnatural

  • @parrotlord6426 No I'm serious. I sail right next to an active volcano and never get hit If I am not lazy.

The best one word description was written here by @Musicmee . Just move your ship as if it was a snake. Left and right. If you go in straight line, the volcano will hit you.

alright. Neat trick, but the fact that volcanoes seem to work that way is really alienating to me. I mean, the whole Devils Roar always felt kinda artificial too me (waay to many eruptions eg.), but I would have not guessed that this is actually a thing. What the Fluff, Rare! xd

  • @parrotlord6426 But hey ''glass is half full on this one'' you can avoid it!

But there is no way to avoid geysers and almost imminent earthquakes and eruptions. Devs somehow thought that making such ridiculously annoying area, so players could cash in Ashen Seafarers for 426 pieces of gold, instead of 213 will be worth it!

With current economy and how annoying the whole area is, if a single Ashen quest would give you 100k, I could see more players going there to grind gold and more people going there to try and steal it. Otherwise why even bother once commendations are done?

  • How are people getting hit?

    First comes the earthquake.
Then if there is going to be an eruption the volcano starts to smoke.
    Then a loud crack sound.

If you are paying attention at all you should be sailing away and once you are moving the odds of being hit twice are really low.

There is no reason to stay, the loot on the beach will be fine, and NPCs will be killed for you and the skulls will be on the beach. You can leave and come back if there is more cargo.

This is simply user error, lrn2DevilsRoar.

    Correction - staying away* .

How often do you play there yourself sir, and if you do, how do you feel about pvp?

Imo It's a good place to 'grind' for people who can learn what you suggested, but want to avoid all PVP. Otherwise, no crew would waste time with that. It was fun once or twice when it came out.

But if Rare does not want to cater safe spaces and want to encourage pirates to interact, taming it seems in line.

  • I get it, though. Sometimes, the Roar pseudo-randomness can get too much, too frustrating, even if you know the tricks and tactics to sail peacefully there.

I just did an Ashen Athena to grind some of my final levels and check on some glitches the game has had for a while there, and not only are they still a terrible way to Athena (I was barely rank 3 1/2 by the time i got the Ashen Athena), but it just feels... ancient, balancing-wise.

Which is both an issue with the Roar (you've got the eruptions, the earthquake, the geysers, the emergent threats, the bugs, the lack of spawning at Morrows) and the old Athena quests (not enough valuable loot, not enough Athena stuff, stronger ennemies), which combine to make it a tiring, frustrating experience overall, with a terrible risk/reward ratio.

So I get why it's deserted, and yes, a rebalance would do the Roar good, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon, or ever (just like the quest board, or other stuff abandoned by Rare).

  • If it's keeping some people a'scared seems to be working as intended and I say that as someone that was absolutely annihilated in the Roar in a sequence of events that boggles the mind.

  • @zig-zag-ltu Yeah it is annoying. Not over the top for me, but I could certainly like some kind of rework, to make it all feel more organical.

I remember finishing my athena "reach level 20" voyages there (back before Veil existed and when athena cap was level 20), and also my Merchant Alliance Level 50 grind. I dont think it is "over the top" unfair. If you pay attention to your surroundings and have a little bit of luck.. most of my sails went pretty chill, all things considered.
I certainly enjoyed not having to worry about other players while sailing athena level 5, because noone (exept me, ofc) was dense enough to sail there xd

  • Sorry your ship sank...

    I didn’t sink. Just annoyed.

  • @parrotlord6426 Yeah I've done majority of my Athena 1-20 there. It was super frustrating, but still better than loosing my gold to a galleon or brig.

Since then, I became a lot more active here and I can notice that devs really want everyone to participate in PVEVP, so out of idk maybe 300 hours in the Roar, Ive done less than 1-2hours of pvp there. That land really fits the Ashen curse, and perhaps Morrows peak could become a reaper dominant outpost?

OR whatever the changes would be, I don't understand why people are so scared to think about changes, but once changes happen they stick to them and become scared of new ones?

  • I play in the roar all the time. I do almost all my lost shipment and vaults in the roar, as they keep you in the roar instead of sending you halfway across the map and back.

I just find the length of the volcanos annoying. Sitting and waiting for 5 minutes for the volcano to stop so I can go on the island is quite boring. I don’t mind the rest though, it’s a volcano region and it behaves like one.

  • @zig-zag-ltu Love the idea of the Roar becoming reaper territory. Would also fitt the map since the biggest "good guys" bastion right now is Port Merrick.

People are always afraid of changes xd. Doesnt mean they dont want them - they are just afraid of the unknown. Maybe an evolutionary issue

Ahh so you are one of "those" people who think people who PvP don't also PvE?

    /facepalm

  • @foambreaker Nope. I just think you are a little bit confused at your old age.

No need to get insulting. They gave a suggestion to help you. You asked them a question about their use of the Roar and their fondness for PvP but apparently you didn’t like their answer.

Don’t like the Roar, don’t go. It isn’t for everyone. They made it optional for a reason. I love the Roar and I miss how it was much more difficult when it was first released. Once you learn to thrive there you might realize it is actually a great place.

Another hint to help you: If you see embers falling from the sky while looking towards the active volcano then you are still within the circle of destruction. It is a pretty big circle. Either wait outside the circle or use the serpentine maneuver to pass through.

  • @ghostpaw Dont lecture me. One of ''those'' people must have been a compliment and a constructive answer in your book?

  • I like the roar the way it is...
Still the best and profitable way of doing goldhoarder vaults...

    Just my 2cents
