Keep HG PvP XP ratios as in Double XP weekends

  • After playing HourGlass this weekend I think Rare needs to keep the XP gained per win and per lose during the next months.

Hourglass on double XP weekends feels like how it should have been since the beggining. Winning gives half a level and losing gives a quarter of a level, so, in my opinion it feels more rewarding and it really makes sense.

Obviously, the gold obtained when lowering the Hourglass should be kept as it is, but the XP gained per win and lose should be doubled, as we have on this weekend.

Is a way to encourage new players to play the game mode as it will be less punishing when losing, so they can earn the curses and improve their skills and maybe play way more often.

  • @capt-pilotes that would make the Gold & Glory weekends redundant then for gaining allegiance unless they boosted it further. Personally I think the rep gained when it’s not G&G is fine. It’s supposed to be a grind. For context, I’ve went up 50 levels in 2 days by smashing out Hourglass, this should not be carried over cause then I’d have the gold curses done within a few weeks.

  • Its mostly fine as is, the rep isn't the issue, its the game mode being repetitive and unrewarding if you do lose. We need daily deeds awarding allegiance, defensive mode providing more benefits by multiplying the loss value by treasury value and streak values still giving a percentage of reward when Sunk. Casuals don't like it because it doesn't give them incentives to play SoT adventure at higher risk and veterans are not rewarded for gaining streaks and showing themselves as faction champions. Hourglass needs to be more open to adventure to spice it up. It lacks the classic SoT flare of risk vs reward.

  • Hourglass needs a lot of changes.

Keeping the exp gained like G&G is One of that changes, at least on the first 100 levels.

After that, exp is fine, but the main grind feels smoother this weekend, even loosing.

I think the issue about making the general grind "easier" is that it devalues to struggles others went through just to obtain the same item. It has to have a certain level of worth and tells pirates what kind of player you are by actually owning the lv 100 reward.

I haven't gotten the curses yet, and even though it would be nice to have increased XP, I also don't think it would be healthy socially, similar to what happened with the Legendary Sea Dog Weapon set back in Arena when it's requirement was reduced greatly.

Also more XP after losses just means you're not going to learn off of your battles, so this would just reduce that core learning function. You just gotta deal with the struggle, it's not like HG is going anywhere anytime soon.

There are players doing dummies 24/7, with golden curses. I've been on Microsoft group with Friends while others are doing this, they already have the golden curses just killing an afk ship for hours.

Increasing exp just makes the way easier to players Who struggles at PvP, I dont see any negative aspect on that.

I got my curses playing "legit" by figthing or just loose farming while looking anime, but is just super tedious for a skin. I see more valuable people with 30 FoF chests than people with curses xD

If you're struggling at PvP, you have to play more of it to get better at it (or begin to depart if you're not compatible with it). There is no such thing as a better option when discussing PvP in video games, you have to get better or just... don't.

The curses are a status of your dedication to PvP, and if you're not dedicated, you're not getting them.

    I repeat again.

I know people, in fact I spend a lot of time in voice chat with them, who have farmed the curses using glitches, by matching on Xbox Only servers, using the dummy method .... these people have put no effort into getting anything.

However, they have their curses. My point is, if there are these less "Legal" methods to access the target.... Why not downgrade the difficulty for those who are trying to do it the legal way?

You're going to win or lose a lot of fights, that's going to make you better, but I think they ask for too many battles for the first 100 levels, I agree with leaving things as they are from 100 to 1000.

We are not asking for them to be a gift, it's a necessary QOL improvement in our opinion.
I already have my ghost curse and I'm 2-3 levels short of the skeleton, I wouldn't be affected by the changes.

But I'm looking in general, for all players, a better product for everyone, not for me.

Hourglass caters to a certain crowd that to some, is the most important crowd in the game's community, and also the most toxic. Hourglass is PvP, you get unique rewards for doing a lot of it. You get it sooner if you're good at it, you get it later if you're bad at it. Trivializing something that honest PvP players struggled to earn would lead to the same backlash as, again, the Legendary Sea Dog Weapons when their requirement wound up being temporarily reduced.

PvP is hard, PvP is skill-based, you can't sully that just because other players don't enjoy it.

  • I think xp in pvp should be like it was last weekend. This will make players play in this mode instead of dropping out of the game.

  • There are currently no plans to change the standard amount of Allegiance, but they will continue to be boosted on bonus weekends such as Gold & Glory, Community Days and other special events.

    Dropping anchor here.
