Honestly, Rare did a fantastic job with the companies and their unique voyages. For a long time these guys were the backbone of SOT and to some still are. For the most part they are perfect as is, I just are just a few suggestions I think would make some less than great voyages better. Or give something the Company that would bring it to parr in with its sister's. Feel free to share your thought's on if you agree or if you would like to see something else.
Order of Souls
Sadly when it came to the mega update bringing better voyages with larger payouts, the order drew the short stick. I personally find the ghost ships fun to fight but its just a worse version of flame heart and the loot isn't very good compared to vault and sunken ship runs. Here's a few suggestions I have in mind that could help, I'd probably only ask one is added though.
- Increase the amount of loot at the end of the ghost ship fight, and make it unique from the world event.
Perhaps have us go to one or more islands where we fight captains and pick up map peace's.
They should drop a skull and a map peace to a haunted island around SOT.
After all map peace's have been gathered, the ghost ships spawn at the marked island and the fight continues as normal.
Once the boss is killed they will drop a larger amount and varity of damned skulls.
It will take more time to do, but justify adding more rewards at the end on top of the ones gathered before the fight. - Utilize the Treasury's
These are probably one of the coolest additions as of late. And it's a shame I do not see more crews doing them. Maybe instead of just having them sit around the world with the occasional bottle quest, add a voyage to them from the order.
In addition to the sea creatures, you could fight barnacled skeletons and captains in waves.
Once enough waves have been completed, a new type of arena boss could spawn. (Or at least a coral version of a current one.) They will drop a key that can be used to open the vault in the arena.
Once the vault is opened, a large amount of different types of skulls will be inside that you can take back to the ship.
Many do not like the risk associated with leaving the ship, so maybe a shield could spawn over the treasury to stop attacks while the treasury is active. The shield would collapse after the boss is killed. Ofc, this is a pirate game and the argument could be made that its a risk you may need to take and to just do a different voyage if you don't like that. I'm not a big fan of that mindset though, but up to you on which is best. - Add Skelton ship voyages
I'm not sure why they haven't done this already to be honest. But it could added to the game quickly (probably) and made a simple but fun and rewarding voyage.
Have a bounty for a handful of skeletons given to the player. (These skeleton's do not drop skulls as they are not captains)
Once the player claims all the bounty's, an envelop of skeleton orders will be dropped revealing the location of the skelly ship.
Players will go to the circled area on the map, and they will be engaged by a skelly ship galleon or sloop depending on the size of the crew. (This will not affect reward size)
Once the ship sinks, a modest amount of skulls will resurface from the water for players to collect.
Pretty much all I got; I'm very happy with how much effort and content Rare has put into their companies. But I think an update similar if not one of these suggestions would really give the Order of Souls some needed attention. Lmk your thoughts or what you'd like to see instead. Thanks for reading
