Model Ripping Ideas

    Intro

    So, I am a story writer and Avid Roleplayer (For Homebrew D&D Sessions or otherwise) and I have absolutely grown to love my SOT Pirate.

    • After almost 2 years of writing Ashina, There is still so much more to do, make and write. But, we have to face a very very sad fact; One day, Sea of Thieves will die. We don't know when and we don't want it to happen, but it happens to almost all online games. One thing that none of us here want to face, but it will happen.

    • For those of us Story Writers, Lore Creators, Artists, to people who just like the idea, Why not make the Character models Rippable? For little 3D Models that we could 3D print and have as a cool little desk ornament, or We could upload to Source and use them for Animations!

    What would you guys think?

    (I know about the IPG, and how it is hard, but I still think there could be a model ripper of At least your character, and the clothes they wear, or an option to pay Rare to give you rights to the 3D model File.)

    Honestly SoT shutting down is going to be one of the most painful live service shutdowns in my life purely because there's no way in hell the developers are going to be able to moderate or salvage most of the data on their services.

    What's going to be worse is what happens afterwards and how tight Micro$oft will be managing things from there on out. I don't want this to be true, but I imagine any attempt to utilize Rare's assets without their permission would lead to some serious trouble with Microsoft's involvement. A can of worms that no player will want to suffer through.

    I'd honestly love to have something like this. Right now there's not much I want more than to learn blender just to make renders with my pirate and NPCs.

    I doubt it'll be happening for reasons Nex mentioned with Microsoft and all their stuff... But we can hope. Maybe if we even have to pay ancient coins to save our pirate with it's currently equipped clothing or something for those of us like myself who have a "set outfit" that won't really be changing, I don't know, but I really like this idea.

    Eventual shut down or not, this is an awesome idea! Would be great to be able to rig your character into games that allow custom player models!
