Ok, i know that this post could receive a lot of bad replies but i am quite a bit unpleased and upset with the community of this game and the developers. i'll tell you why:
yesterday night (i'm european) and the day before, in community day where people SHOULD gain double reputation and gold we where chased for all the map by the typical full-black outfit with the dark adventure sails, double-gunner... i'm sure, you know the type of player. i am a big fan of sot but when you in completly comunity day, where you can gain rep n gold like a pig, have to run because someone enjoys sinking other people is not what after a long week of work i'd love to do. skill issue? probably, i enjoy far more the pve than the pvp on this game, maybe i'm not good ok, but i don't care, i just want to play it, we exists. It is the way the game is done? no, this is pure cruelty. wanna do pvp? you have the place to do that. don't make people waste time and lose enjoyng in their gameplay. bothering people on community day is pure cruelty, we passed near two ship that they're fighting and the ship of this kind of player attack them, so apparently their only purpose was to annoyng people, but why during Communty day... adding more bad experience with this game recently i've encounter some of the most toxic player that you can find on the seas: the crew that hijacked your ship for spawncamping you and provocate you to make you ragequit. this type of player for the rules of sot is punishible with the ban, so i've sent the report for those guys with names, clips, i've described what happened, where and when and the Rare stuff told me "one or more player that you have recently reported has permanently banned..." after the "we took really seriously the reports that people send to us"... i've saved the name of those guys and after 2 hours the receiving of the "they are banned" message i've looked for their profile and... "Sea of thieves - sailing the seas"... i am speechless. i fell that i was fooled by the Rare... the game itself is good, really big and beautifull but like everything in this world the one that ruins it are player. yes if you are asking i'm gnawing. i hate to leave this game but every time i'll play it i turn it off whit a bad mood, a game should NOT do this to a player.
things are going really down

Okie.
So your upset because people were playing pirates in a pirate game. Regardless of the event going on. As you know, all rep, loot, gold was doubled tripled or whatever.
So stealing loot that you may have is still part of the game.Regardless of the community weekend. It still the same game just with bonuses for a few hours.
Nothing new here.
i've saved the name of those guys and after 2 hours the receiving of the "they are banned" message i've looked for their profile and... "Sea of thieves - sailing the seas"... i am speechless
Besides the player being banned and you getting a message. You saving..the players name..just to check on them and monitor them. Like a stalker.
Dude, not cool.
This game lol. Yes, unfortunately the small % of players being the most vocal and loudest, scream for pvp like spoiled children. 90% rest of us that enjoy co-op experiences are left out to collect dust. I don't understand why. They made the decision before to cancel Arena. Too bad they listen to the loudest and not the largest.

There is more varied activity right now than there has been in a long time.
A lot of different interests, experience levels, and personalities sailing around the organic environment right now.
If people want positive experiences and pleasant interactions they are gonna need to commit to contributing to them.
The negative interactions happen, they will always happen in life
it's all about approaching new encounters without grudges and negativity.Gotta contribute to the dance. Impatience, resentment, grudges, stuck in the mud mindset, gotta let all that go, if someone doesn't let it go it's all they are going to find during encounters.
Incompatibility isn't a curse it's a reality of existence, just a thing that comes and goes. Just gotta try, try, and try.
That's all people that are doing alright are doing. They are trying, over and over, letting go of what drags/weighs them down.
@wolfmanbush why should you try when your hours of free time that may be the only time you have to relax in the week will turn to nothing but frustration and rage in a matter of minutes?
I don't know why you'd assume that a weekend that makes treasure more valuable would somehow make it less likely that players would want to steal it? It's worth more money and rep to everyone. If you don't want to waste your time running away, don't run away. Turn and fight, sail past outposts and drop loot off, or use a portal to move to a different server if you want to keep your emissary flag active and then get on with your day.
Exact same thing I'd tell someone complaining about chasing a runner all day; don't do it if you don't want to waste your time.

As long as your hobbies are around other people you will find things you like and don't like about the encounters.
If you truly wanted to thrive in SoT you would.
Nothing and nobody is holding you back from playing to your strengths to overall succeed, reach your goals, attach yourself to an optimistic and forgiving outlook.
You 100% can and will succeed here if you approach your sessions in a different way, a way that serves you, a way that appreciates the opportunity and the environment. A way that isn't founded in judgement about others, rather, an approach that builds yourself up and those around you.
Want to save a lot of time? take some of my advice based on experience that I post around, it's free. I hold myself and my advice accountable. I take it seriously.
Don't like me or my advice? take some from the content of others on other platforms based on their experiences.
Work at it, build yourself up, build your friends up, build strangers up. Get through it.
@fedted998 ever since season 8 hourglass update, the seas have been friskier. There have been so many players complaining about the sbmm and how they always get stomped in HG, so they’ve all resorted to practicing and engaging pvp in adventure to get better. The typical adventure player is usually an easy target. I would recommend to server hop…especially if you don’t have any loot!
Hopefully your luck changes!
First of all calling someone a sweat and toxic just because they sunk you, double guns or are better at pvp is a really bad overgeneralization. Community day is not meant to be the day where people make friends. It is just an event where you get more rep and gold. It actually makes more sense for people to be more into pvp on community day than any other given day. Let me give you an example. So you start FotD and another ship comes. You make an alliance and they get half the loot and rep. If they want the full loot they have to start a FotD on their own but since you are doing one already, they can't. Or they sink you and they get everything. Which one do you think is more worth in terms of value for their time? Sea of Thieves IS A PVPVE game where every playstyle is allowed. Just because you do not like the way other people play does not mean that it is cruel and it certainly not wrong. Even if you only pve, consistently getting sunk by other people is on you. And i do not mean that in a git gud way, or saying that you need to learn how to pvp but you are definitely doing certain things wrong. If pve is your preffered playstyle not selling when you reach grade 5, sniping for dead servers or looking on the horizon are things that will get you sunk whether you like it or not. If you are a skilled pve player you can avoid player interaction pretty easily. The majority of people i see making these complain posts, just wanted to do world events and FotD which are the most contested events right now and meet friendly people that will let them get free loot. The game does not work like that. I only agree that people that curse or say racial slurs and cheat are thriving due to the problematic nature of the current report/ban system. If playing SoT is having an impact on your emotions irl and making you feel sad you can take a break or play something else.
@gosva5434 Don't do the content you paid to be a part of. Makes sense. Do agree though with one part. Rare should rename the "Community Day/Weekend" to something like double rewards weekend. There is no community on community day and anyone who thinks these are friendly seas needs to be taught this.
Also, while sinking someone isn't toxic, chasing them for an hour is. No one owes you a fight and pvp sweats need to accept that fact.
Rare should really just take all the loot out and make this game a pvp only game sometimes. Get it out of some peoples systems and see just how many are actually here for the "I don't pvp for loot I pvp for the thrill" statements.
@huhxyz
The other person paid for that content as well. The game is PVPVE so if someone wants to chase you for an hour to get your loot the can do so and it is not toxic, for the same reason it is not toxic for you run for an hour instead of defending your loot. If you buy Dark Souls but can not beat the game is it the games fault? Or just because you bought it should that mean that it must change to your liking. You are making it sound like people who do pvp are somekind of degenerates just because they are enjoying a different playstyle than yours in videogame.@huhxyz Preseverance. It's not how much gold, the ship set, etc cosmetic someone has acquired that impresses me most. It's a person's determination and grit through grind and pvp threat that impresses me. Like, holy cow, they've been through it all and roughed the worst of situations AND still came back never giving up. Real respect real.

"Practicing and engaging PVP in adventure"
You mean ganking sloops to feel big and strong because they can't win against people who actually want a fight."want to do pvp? you have a place to do that" The devs have stated that hg is opt IN pvp, but there is no opt OUT. I will assume this is the core of the problem, if you expect people not to attack you in a game about stealing and pirating then you will struggle to have a good time. During community weekend i started a gilded athena with a friend and lost most of the loot to a brig alliance because we didnt realize that they were working together until it was too late, but we turned losing the loot into a great time and were good sports about the whole thing.
If you accept that some times you will lose your loot and dont get attached to it, then turning around to confront the ship after you wont be so scary, and if you do lose loot that you arnt attached to, then you wont be upset.
I have expressed towards many new players the last few years that the biggest rule to the game is to never get attached to your loot, because you will lose it, and it will happen when you have a lot, and if you are attached to it then you will get upset. Loot isnt the core of the game, its not about gathering up the maximum amount of gold you can, this game is designed around raw experience and interactions between players. You are not supposed to plan out a play session before you get on and have it go off without a hitch from start to end.

Shooting some one in an fps game is not toxic, taking first place in a racing game is not toxic, so sinking people and stealing in a game about doing just that, by the logic of the other 2, does not fall under the grounds of toxicity.
Before you can call people toxic for what they do in a game, you have to consider what the game is designed around and how its intended to be played. If rare didnt want people to sink and steal your loot, then they would never have made a pvpve game.

it's hard for these sweaty players to realize that alot of people are casual. they have a hard time understanding that some people just wanna relax and sail the beautiful sea out there.. we get that that is the game,. but sometimes just scuttling and moving on is way easier then pleasing the sharks of the sea., its horse, but it is what it is.

Us people dont have the skill to fight, and we don't care to learn, we're just out here to have fun. you guys are all sweats landing deck shots and knocking masts while eating breakfast and doing your nails, we dont care to keep up with the skill cap it's just painful to deal with. makes the beautiful game less positive for sure. If only there was a flag for us people that pvp'ers would udnerstand to leave alone, or a flag that made it so you can't damage or be damaged by others

Not sure why you immediately assume I'm a deckshot landing sweat lord. Not even close, I just understand the game for what it is.
Well, this is the worst example.
Dark Souls is Single Player, if you can´t end the game, is because you need to improve your skills and beat it.
SoT is not like this, you have larger and smaller crews that makes the game absolutely unbalanced, in the moment a gally decides to destroy you, they will unless they literally installed the game that day.
Dark Souls doesn´t have Backtrack/Hitreg, Cheaters, to ruin your experience. The mob that kills you on Dark Souls will not spam "Rolls on the deck" emote or will bucket your corpse :)The vast majority of players that I saw defending the abuse to new players, are the same that deserved C word to lots of crews on arena when they got spawncamped because they were giga bad, just a bunch of mewbie abusers that tasted their own medicine and Dced hundreds of times. I still facing that idiots on Adventure, and I camp them until I get bored or they Dc, just to remind them one thing, do not abuse if you don´t want to be abused, griefers.

the nature of the people who enjoy killing other people, or stealing other peoples things tends to be lower than nice.@vwvepiphonyvwv Great, that is YOUR perspective. Maybe a staggering amount of other players want to go on an adventure and not be chased for hours or be forced into unwinnable encounters? Does their view not count? Is their way of wanting to play worthless in your view? Perspective is one hell of a thing and Rare forcing everyone into the same car only one gets the wheel and it is always going to be the one ready to kill the other.

The numbers are high for sure, i feel like rare is scared that people won't enjoy the game without the fear, but i can tell you for my self, i fear the kraken every day, not to mention when you're doing ghost ships and skeleton gallys come out of no where, i sinnk plently of times to pve alone
@goldsmen Shooting someone in an fps is not toxic. Winning a competition is not toxic. Following someone lobby to lobby in an fps just to harass them and kill them repeatedly is toxic. Wrecking into a person in a race is toxic. Chasing a player who does not want to fight you in SoT for over an hour because they HAVE TO FIGHT YOU is toxic.
If Rare wanted the player base to actively turn servers into salty wastelands they would advertise that and not the smiling happy fun times they do in every trailer.

You're referring to the same trailers that also show ships shooting cannonballs at each other and pirates sword fighting and shooting guns, right?

Chasing people even though they dont want to fight is not toxic. If you are trying to get their loot then that falls under the grounds of trying to steal still, regardless if they run or not.
Rare has a no tolerance stance on toxicity, they see spawn camping for no reason than to spawn camp as toxic, and as such will ban you for it, but they dont hold chasing some one under the same regard because of the nature of the game. If it was toxic, then a lot of people would be banned for it, yet i have never heard of a single ban happening just because some one was chased.

Seems strange because the pirate code says "settle disputes on the seas" not "create disputes on the seas"
@goldsmen Well we will never agree on that. You are not owed a fight and forcing a crew to fight is toxic in my opinion. Yes they should be ready to defend themselves but to spend that amount of time is a waste to both parties.

If you look into it, all that means is "keep your issue with people in the game". It doesnt mean that if you disagree with some one that you should go out and do naval to decide who is right, just dont start witch hunts or bring issue with others to places like the forums or social media.
@mrestiercol Thank you! Was going to respond but you put it fantastically and much more elegantly than I would have.
