Ahoy! I am one of the few pirates in Japan playing this game.
Since this post uses the translation function, I apologize in advance for not being able to convey it well.
The game is unique and offers adventure and combat like no other, yet many Japanese stop playing before realizing its unique experience.
There are various reasons, but I would like to cite "no commercials for Japanese people" and "low quality of translation".
"No commercials for Japanese" The game deserves a description of treasure hunting, puzzle solving, storytelling, looting treasure from other players, and fighting together for honor. Since there is no advertisement of what kind of game it is, I don't know how to play it, and it is spreading as a boring game.
And although this game features Jack Sparrow, who is very famous in Japan, it works the other way around in PR. Because of the lack of commercials, no one in Japan knows that this game is by Microsoft and Rare, but everyone knows that Jack Sparrow is a Disney-owned character.
A game's popularity in Japan depends on whether or not famous streamers are playing it. However, in Japan, many people misunderstand that this game is sold by Disney, which is particularly strict on copyrights, and do not play it. Some Japanese companies, which have hundreds of thousands of viewers, have issued bans on streamers saying they can't play the game because Disney owns the rights.
Next is about poor quality translations.
This has been the case ever since the Japanese language was first implemented. Kanji is displayed in Chinese instead of Japanese, and the context and first person are also messed up.
Poor translation ruins the dialogue, Captain Pendragon is a man whose gender identity is female in Japan, and although Mr. Gibbs was rescued by the player, he insults us by claiming the opposite.
The term Sailor's Bounty is sometimes confused with "Pirate's Treasure Island" and "Pirate's Treasure", making the mystery more difficult to unravel.
And since any Japanese person can judge a low-quality translation by looking at it, some people lose their motivation to think that the developer of this game has no intention of providing Japanese people with a game to play.
Please help Japanese people experience a fun pirate life
:)
