So, i have noticed a interesting behaviour as of late.
People join open crews, get supplys etc. then check my profile see that i "only" have 18d of playtime, call me a noob, troll, burn the ship and leave.
To be fair, yes you can play with whomever you want, but why the gatekeeping? I mean i have a job i need to pay bills so why is this behaviour a thing now?
@ozeanburning Stop using open crews. If you had 10,000 days at sea they would probably mock you for playing so much, burn the ship, and then leave. They are just trolling. Most seasoned players would welcome new players who are willing to learn and chip in. Use other ways to find crewmates. XBox Live’s Looking for Group tool might be a place to start. Or the Find a Crew section of these forums.

The problem is them, not you.
Open crew is awful. Don't use it. Either find friends to play with, Solo Sloop it up, or consider doing some posts here in the forums or on a Discord server to find crew who actually want to play. The people who play in Open crew are either Children, mentally Children, or just lacking a brain altogether.

I've reported various players for griefing me in Open Crew and LFG. They aren't immune to the rules.
I think you should be glad you dodged a bullet this early mate, just avoid open crew and try this game solo, its really immerseful and relaxing. It will be hard at first, but will get better later.
Alternatively you can go to Discord Sea of Thieves and join a crew there, you will all get a chance to talk and pick your crew before you sail off. If you join alliance server you won't have a threat of PVP, you will get a good chance to learn everything about PVE and nobody judges you openly there about your experience.

Instead they judge you on how well you perform the PvE content and how efficient you are in it. Don't even think of arguing with them either, cause they KNOW.

@personalc0ffee I played on Ashen alliance server and doing this will most probably get you kicked out of there. I was judging everyone (quietly in my head) as our crew made probably 60-80% of the whole take during the session. That place is filled with players who hate PVP and just want a safe envinronment. Never really heard anything offensive or negative, just our crew was complaining that others are not really turning in any money. But when you think about it, it could be new players, could be children, could be older folk just enjoying this game, could be people with disabilities and everyone was quite understanding of it and never made a fuss of it.
Obviously there are many servers out there, but that one is a really amazing one. Just gotta warn unexperienced players, you will be missing out a lot and the game could appear boring as there are no threats there and the experience becomes a money grinding chore (at least for me)

I'm definitely not a saint. My checkered past is fact to that. But I turned my behavior around and become a Boatswain, so not too shabby.
I just wish players would be kinder to one another. Be good sports, even in competition.

I sometimes play in the Athena Vanguard. I haven't tried to join Ashen, though I hear they're popular and we don't mention the OTHER one.
That's actually nice, they'll throw people out for that behavior. Like it is OK to be efficient but you have to vibe with the crew.
But you're right, you have no clue who you are going to get.
Unfortunately, I see lots of attempted gate keeping in the SoT communities.
