Cannon placement.

  • The galleon cannons should be located in the middle deck, rather than the top deck. It would eliminate solo galleon, would make it more desirable for a larger crew since you'd have to man 2 decks.

Brig wouldn't be bad for cannons to be below also. Make it so the sloop is the only easy one to solo. More requiring larger crews for brig and galleon. Since they're meant to anyways.

No need anymore for making middle deck holes with cannon shots 😁.

  • @restlessboredom

A solo brig/galley sunk you huh?

  • Mechanically wouldn't work (visibility, limited traverse, and as was stated, holes) and just seems completely unnecessary to me.

If you've ever tried to sail a galleon solo, you should know it's already extremely difficult even before someone starts putting holes in you.
    Solo galleons aren't a concern.

  • There are so, so many reasons why solo galleon is a terrible idea. I can't imagine you've actually encountered one in adventure mode... I too wonder what prompted this statement.

If "stop solo galleons" is the only reason for this suggestion, my response is "Mission Accomplished, Rare!"

Exactly once my crew stumbled upon what we believe was a solo galley.
Default cosmetics, reaper's mark flag up, and just loitering outside of shipwreck bay.

We killed the 1 guy we found on board, sunk it, and all the while were expecting the rest of his crew to be tucking our trying to ambush is with kegs.
Did constant sweeps for tuckers. Never found anything and nothing ever happened, so he seemed to be solo.

This was before logbooks so we had no way of confirming the crew makeup.

    Oh that screams "noooooooooooooooooob!"

Have pity on the poor guy, probably his first day playing.

  • This kinda makes me want to get a captained galleon and get it the Legendat Feared title solo as a challenge. Perhaps the best method would be to go for treasuries to achieve this goal.

  • Are you saying it would eliminate being able to take out a galleon while solo? or people running galleon solo? Because running it solo is just a meme, and taking it out solo is a thing because every ship is intended to be able to take on any other sized ship... The galleon shouldnt just win by default JUST because its bigger with more crew.

The game would not be fun on smaller ships if you couldnt fight back against bigger crews.

We concluded that eventually, but our first thought was that it had to be a trap and we were going to bite because we wanted to see what they were planning.

We weren't risking much, and at the end of the day it's a game and we rarely pass up the opportunity for something zany to happen.

  • @restlessboredom this would eliminate the ability to one ball then so I’m gonna say hard pass

  • You make it sounds like solo gally is a meta and that it has become a problem?

Feel free to solo gally anytime you want. Just don’t come back after and complain that the game is too hard because you sink to everything stronger than a blue mermaid statue.

  • If you think Solo galleon is a problem, use firebombs and grab some popcorn.

  • @restlessboredom That's a great idea! Let's also make space instead of the sea? What do you think of that?

  • @restlessboredom you're trying to solve something that isn't an issue...

  • The most likely explanation is that, that guy was open crew and his crew had left mid game or none even joined, it happened to me too many times while playing open crew, they would get bored and leave the fact that there was a Reaper's Mark is a good sign of trollage. Cause some will raise that flag for the sole purpose of baiting people to attack it.
