Try using your spyglass while standing on top of your sail's crossbeam (not the crows nest, but the horizontal wood beam below it); it's much more stable than anywhere else on the ship!
I don't think the game codes that area as part of the ship, so it doesn't add your ship's motion to your view.

When you consider the physics of that… presumably the fixed telescope would actually bob up and down significantly more than the handheld one. Because our pirates are, to an extent, compensating for the boats movement when they hold their own telescope.
A fixed telescope would be a nightmare to use.

Anyway, I'm so used to my spyglass that I've already obtained a subconscious stabilizator.

How could it be more stable when it's attached to the ship? The ship is the moving part, you know...it would be actually worse then
