  • I really appreciate all these stuff devs are doing, but I believe, this is not what players want. Personally, I wish to return to this game so much, but every time I do this, I face some incredible level of boredom. I don't care much about pure PvE. I want to rob people for gold. Or, at least, earn some PvE gold with a real danger of being killed by other players. And I think, dat lots of players have same preferences.

Plz, add more ships with unique features. Like, idk, chinese ship for 3 or 4 players with a cannon at each side (at front and back too). Or a ship model, dat is weak in close combat, but with mortar for effective ranged combat. Add an option to heat up cannon balls in furnace in order to make fire damage.

Or add new weapons or new stuff for weapon slots. (weapon meta hasn't changed for ages). For example: medicine, that takes a weapon slot, but gives you extra healing item with separate cooldown. Or Multi-barrel pistol (a weaker, but faster version of blunderbuss). Or, at least, add no-scope version of already existing sniper rifle!

This one is very suggestive, but: you can add perks or classes, that don't need to be upgrated or earned. Just some simple buffes and debuffes. Like: faster repair and other ship chores, but lesser ammunition. Or, for example, 200% more ammunition at the cost of 1 weapon slot. Or extra 15% moving speed at the cost of 40% of health. Sky's the limit!

Sea of Thieves - is a unique and really interesting game. But dev's obsession with PvE upsets me. This game could be so much more. It just needs extra basic gameplay depth. Lots players bought Sea of Thieves just for fun, random PvP. And even more players will come to this idea after hundreds of hours of monotonous farming.

If you want to rob players, you need PvE so there is something to rob. The game needs both, and PvP is usually self sustaining while PvE requires new content periodically so players aren't doing the same thing over and over.

The rest of your ideas are probably never getting added, so if you're looking for something like that you may want to start exploring other game options to see what they are offering.

  • I don't care much about pure PvE. I want to rob people for gold.

    people reap what they sow

taking without contributing and maintaining kills the hunting grounds

take care of the area and the herd and the harvest is plentiful

It's a pve/pvp focused experience. the people that have the most issues are the ones that only care about one over the other and that's lead to less activity, more running and more chasing, and servers that are not nearly as healthy as they can be

  • OP seeks to change a game he doesn't play. Yeah, thanks for posting.

Another gamer with a bias from other experiences, resulting in another "but there is so much potential here" thread.

He doesn't get it, he doesn't play it.

  • @wolfmanbush the core issue is toxicity. ill give you example of what happened last night. im running no emissary and have my offer alliance flag out. i pull into an island with a sloop parked next to it. as im pulling in im stating im friendly and asking for alliance. they pull away and i park to look for a blue bottle. they sail around the island and then fire on my ship sinking it. i stood on the beach waving continuing to be friendly. one cannons over to me as i continue to wave and kills me. i never drew a weapon or anything…toxicity is killing this game period. i had nothing on my ship and nothing on me. zero reason to kill me or sink my ship

There is nothing toxic in that story. They just didn't want you around the island they were obviously doing something on.

  • @d3adst1ck so they maybe you dont understand what toxicity is then lol and maybe you contribute to the problem i dont know…killing someone who is being friendly and not doing anything sketchy is toxic

Given the context of your posts it appears to me you intentionally put yourself in these situations to push a negative narrative about the community over gameplay differences in preference.

You can be as passive as you wish and as friendly as you wish but others play differently. You gotta protect yourself if you don't enjoy hostile interactions.

One of us doesn't know what it is, but it's not me. They killed you because they don't want to have to watch you the entire time to prevent you from doing something sketchy later. They wanted you gone so they could just finish whatever they were doing without the extra hassle.

You taking it personally is a you problem.

  • @joe-krakatoa ofc I don't play it any more. After 300 hours (that's not much, but will do) I've got tired of farming and, afterwards, I've got tired of never-changing PvP. And I am even more upset with the fact that devs keep creating new tall tales stories. Don't get me wrong: they are fine, but they are not worth all these man hours, because replayability of these stories is not high enough. New treasuries are fine too, but that's not a thing I wanted...

  • @madfrito99 Ahoy!

If you feel you have come across players who break our Community Code of Conduct then please contact our Support Team and file a report with accompanying evidence. They will happily investigate and moderate accordingly if the actions of the players were not in keeping with our Community Guidelines.

    Thanks,

  • but I believe, this is not what players want.

No even the players know what they want. I don’t know what I want. :(

But I’m happy enough for everything else being released.

  • @d3adst1ck said in We need more core gameplay content.:

You taking it personally is a you problem.

This, right there, describes 99% of the "toxicity" issues in the game.

  • @bloodybil i take that personally, can you stop being so toxic please?

  • @russiancelestia

We desire the same but in a different form.
More expansion of the base-features, less PvE & Tall Tales.

Curse of Caribbean cameo was beautiful but as you said, I wish there would have been at least one alternate ship first, for all crew-types.
    For the
    2 players
    3 players
    4 players
    types of people.

  • @russiancelestia
Idk what others have said, I'll just chip in something small:

Or, at least, earn some PvE gold with a real danger of being killed by other players.

Have you ever tried clearing the Fort of Fortune with a Reaper's Bones emissary raised? Because that is exactly what you describe. Just last time I did one, I had to sink 5-6 ships through the whole process.
If you want to go to an extreme, try stacking loot for 3+ hours without selling and see how much your heart races when you get attacked.

I don't care much about pure PvE. I want to rob people for gold.

From a PvP perspective, new PvE is just a chance to steal something new and learning how to do so effectively. With the FotD came tucc tactics, with the Vaults came recon on what part of the vault voyage you think the enemy crew is on. Look at the Sunken Kingdom! You have to learn a whole new strategy to steal that stuff!
To new PvE, PvP just sees new ways to fight/outsmart other crews.

  • @meroviel but having this attitude towards our community is wrong, because you are encouraging people to report any kind of bad interaction when nothing worth reporting is actually taking place.

Where in the community guidelines does it say that a crew must be passive towards another crew?
If there is no gross foul language or cheating being used while a crew is being attacked or sunk than that is just playing the game normally.

Our game is designed around player interaction whether or good or bad, encouraging this kind of mentality that you can just report anyone for just about anything simply hurts our community and our game.

Please do not encourage this kind of gross behavior.

    Thank you!

  • @flintlock-dan I can assure you that we only take action if the reported players have broken the community guidelines which is why every report is assessed manually. We do not take action on every report as people may report for reasons that do not break the community code of conduct.

Our advice would always be to speak to our support agents if they believe they have encountered behaviour that breaks the code - our team will then assess if that is the case.

Those who refuse to defend themselves even when obviously under attack earn a visit to the Ferry. That's how it works.

For all they knew, you could of been lying with an ace up your sleeve, like a hidden Mega keg to blow up their ship or something. Better not to take that risk.

  • @meroviel I would hope so.

  • @grumpyw01f these are some smart thoughts, thanks.

  • @joe-krakatoa Lol i have atleast a 1000+ hours sunk into sot
done legit everything this game has to offer and drag my eyelids all at how much wasted potential this game has, it could very well be the greatest game of all time
greatest multiplayer game at the very least, i dont know whats dragging the devs back.
is it the hardware limitations of old gen consoles?, Not enough support from microsoft?, i dont know.

  • I’ve been happily stealing the shrine loot. It’s added a new level of stealth and sneak. Having to lull people into a false sense of security.
“Go on, get your loot from the mermaid… it’s fine.”
    It’s been delightful.
