I have been trying to hear this for over 15 minutes now.

More information needed to recreate.

It is in that area. its not one specfic spot. i remember, that i came from mermaids hideway to that spot where i dropped the anker.

Was it around 2am in-game time?

@pithyrumble I listened to it. Doesn’t sound like the kraken moaning. Not sure I’ve actually heard those noises before.

That tinging is the sound you get in the shores of gold while traveling through the shroud.

The game audio probably just messed up and decided to play a sped up version of it.

I've heard that before, but I want to say it was near a tall tale at the time, or that's what I chalked it up to.

@sup3rfunk81 Yes, I was sitting right there on that line and then I went into F15 and sat there. I originally sat at F16. I used your that shot right there to line it up but I couldn't hear anything.
I sat in these places a combined 40 minutes.
We need more information to properly track it down and re-create it for the community.
It could just be possible it is a bug but I'm not convinced.

All i can tell is, that i started playing around 2 hours before (via „Play a pirates life“ menu) i got to that plunder valley place. I did the „A pirates life“ tall tale captains of the damned. I completed it and sailed from galleons grave straight west to mermaids hideway and after that to the plunder valley area.

And NO! Im not trolling. I would never waste anybodys or my time with such things.

If that was just a bug, that would be one of the weirdest i have ever experienced in this game! And of course, i want to thank everybody who took the time to reply to my posting!

I just sailed there in a sloop, and I've concluded that the area around F15 is bugged/glitched.

Shows over guys, there's nothing to see.

Here is a video of me loading into a fresh game and sailing toward F15 from Golden Sands from beginning to end.

When I got there, my ship started behaving as if it were in the storm, but the storm wasn't even in the area. There was no rain, but I was getting lightning, holes in my hull, wheelspin, and high waves in calm water.

You can see water clipping about the ship throughout the video.

F15 may be glitched such that everyone's going to get a different type of bug depending on rngesus.

There's nothing elusive or mysterious going on here.

To be honest! If its bug related, that wouldn’t really surprise me. Since the last big updates it seems that the game has more of those as usual.

I've heard this as well... I was in the middle of doing something else and marked the location on my map to investigate further but then forgot to go back. So I am providing no useful information here. But I have heard it.

I think you may be haunted within the game. So only you will ever hear it.

If I had to guess, it's a bug where audio from the Sea of the Damned is triggering. You can hear similar very sounds around the portals sometimes, which might be intentional, but perhaps this bug means it's triggering further away.

Sounds more like the background noise on the log in screen.

Yes i have noticed that a couple days ago, that it sound quite similar.

I heard this noise at Galleon's Grave a night maybe 10 or so days ago. Had just sailed back from beating Rathbone at Shores of Gold and some overworldly music starts playing like that. I assumed it was some kind of bug or something. It was pretty creepy for sure though. I did notice when I left the boat to go onto the outpost the noise stopped but immediately started again when I got back onto my sloop.

There is something in game that hasn't been discovered according to Joe Neate, also he did say in a recent tweet there was an undiscovered tall tale which was dismissed as trolling, but it was also brought up in a stream months prior that referred to the undiscovered secret and only gave the clue: "a time and a place; listen carefully" -|- reddit

I certainly want to believe it's out there

The fact, that it hasn’t happened to me again by now.... its probably bug related. I guess we just have to wait...

Me and my crew have been hunting that said noise for ages. almost a year later and no father with our researching, i though everybody forgot he said that.

I believe these noises have something to do with those portals they added recently.

Go watch masons video. And those noises appear at the 15:50 min. Mark.
