When will hit reg be fixed?

  • Seriously, you have enough money to do it. [Mod edit]

  • @phoenix361245 I havent had a hit reg problem in months, and even then it was a one-off issue and it never happened again. Many other players will never have hit reg issues, and even more will never notice if they do.

It's not a big enough, widespread issue, and only truly affects small portions of the more aggressive PvP communities like TDMers who park many ships very close, firing themselves, their bullets, running, jumping, cannons, and more all too much in the same area, which is hard for the server to calculate all the projectiles, positions, healths, not to mention those with poor connection or devices have more issues due to a lot of it being client side, and, in turn, not Rare's responsibility to fix.

Why on earth would you call them out like this, is the real question. Is it because you're behind a screen and we're pixels to you? Games aren't easy to make, especially this one. Ship speed, momentum, curve, water level, cannon trajectory, and player speed, curve, health, ammo, and bullet trajectory must be calculated, all while calculating the waves, and the ships bobbing up and down, and the players bobbing with it, and the 12 players firing guns at each other at the same time on the TDM fort.

  • @klutchxking518 It's not even a TDM-only issue dude, I get hitreg on chickens in Adventure. I see plenty of partnered streamers routinely complain about hitreg as it happens during streams, as well as in VODs they upload to YT.

Pixel and Falcore made a video showing how inconsistent it is in unpopulated servers, let alone "with 12 players firing at each other."

Folks like you who undermine the issue are just as unhelpful as the ones constantly pointing it out imho. It is a problem, and it does need to be addressed.

Edit: It's been in the Known Issues section of every patch note for so long that it is a meme now. "Haven't had a hit reg problem in months;" gimme a break man.

  • @theblackbellamy And the devs do everything they can to improve it. But those who overmine the issue are just as unhelpful as those who undermine it. Ask 100 random people their opinion on hitreg, and most of them don't care/don't know, some will aggressively speak about it, and then there are others like me who believe it is a smaller and less impactful issue to the community as a whole. Were this a shooter game, it'd have top priority, but it only really reliably causes issues in active combat with a lot of stuff going on, be it many projectiles or many treasures near it. People need to stop harassing the devs about it, it is worked on, but not prioritized, because it is not the focus of the game. Does it need work? Yes! But does it call for calling the dev team a joke and boycotting the game? No, not at all. I agree it should be worked on, and it is, but people hype it up too much.

I do not regularly have hitreg issues that ruin the session. My bullet didn't hit the keg in the water, oh well. My bullet didn't hit the chicken, oh well. I have never had a time where hitreg turned the tide of a battle, and if I did, that's once, so I can't see why it's as huge an issue as to put down the devs and quit the game.

  • @klutchxking518 It's not just with "projectiles or many treasures." It absolutely affects the sword, and will occur with no treasure nearby, with decent ping on a server. Again, I'll point to the Pixel and Falcore video.

It impacts PvP. It impacts PvE. This is a PvPvE game, and we use the same weapons for both. So, I don't see why this shouldn't be prioritized, especially when Rare tells us that "this remains a key priority for the team."

  • If it was something Rare could fix easily dont you think it would’ve been fixed already? It’s not a simple issue. They also have been making improvements to the system, so you saying “gone this long without doing anything” is factually incorrect.

Seriously, the entitlement here gets to me sometimes. Especially from people who don’t even understand why the problem they’re complaining about exists.

  • @theblackbellamy Are you experiencing it every session? Every other session? Every three, four, five, ten sessions? I doubt it. If not, then that is likely why it hasn't been the main priority. It happens, but uncommonly and inconsistently

That and, like @ninja-naranja said, it would have been fixed by now if it was easy, or possible at all.

  • @klutchxking518 No, it's not uncommon, nor is it inconsistent. You can keep repeating that as many times as you'd like, won't make it true.

I mostly just PvP in Adventure. So yes, I experience it in every session. Perhaps not with the same frequency in every fight, but at least in every session.

And I never suggested it's easy to fix, or that it's even possible. In fact I agree with you that if it was, that probably it would have been fixed by now.

However, unlike you, I recognize that despite any attempts to fix it, hitreg has been getting noticeably worse over time. People who constantly complain about it might not help the situation. But folks who are pointing Rare in the wrong direction, by acting like everything is okay, are definitely not helping either.

I love this game, and I wish it weren't true, but hitreg is not okay.

  • @phoenix361245

It is a complex network syncing issue and they have been doing ongoing work to improve the hit detection. It will probably never just be magically "fixed" one day. More than likely, hit detection will simply increase in its reliability over time.

I personally don't have a ton of issues with hit detection unless there's a lot going on in the area, and yet some people report consistent issues. I'm no networking expert, but I expect that the quality of the client side connection can affect this as well.

  • How long until you treat the animation as that shot was really close and may have hit the target instead of confirmation that the target is dead? How about this, just remove the animation then its a non-issue.

In either case, the issue is the issue, adjust to it. you have to stay on target until you get some other indication your goal has been achieved. treat the hit animation as i was pretty close and maybe hit the target.

  • If it's so easy, go learn how to code and fix it yourself

  • as if they care

  • @ste4lthles OH my lord cry more. They do care, but it's clearly more difficult to fix than you think, otherwise it would have been fixed already.

  • @valor-omega yes that's why they banned 3000+ players for no reason ty for the reminder

  • @ste4lthles "no reason" yeah okay, big doubt

  • @ste4lthles Ahoy matey!

Please don't go chucking around totally made up numbers, these numbers are never published so these can only come from some pirate telling tall tales.

Spreading misinformation may be good for the cause but is very unhelpful when trying to get to the truth!

  • @ste4lthles I believe the ~50 or some such players were banned for being toxic and associated with a group of players that broke the pirate code, as well as openly bullying and trashtalking to a partnered streamer on-stream, if that is the event you were referring to.

  • @valor-omega yeah no, look it up

  • @ste4lthles
Just did, still have no idea what you're talking about lol.
