Have the main trading company vendors go to sleep at night (Gold Hoarder, OoS, Merchants, Athena).
A quick little walking animation of them retiring to the upstairs portion of the tavern once it gets to 8pm (fix the stairs lol).
They re-emerge at 5am to open up shop again.
Voyages would now be purchased from a book/ledger located at their shop (similar to Merchants trading information) so you can still purchase voyages and embark anytime.
Other vendors (clothes, weapons, shipwrights) stay unchanged, 24/7 as always.
But why Papa? WHY??!?
Because it would add an extra layer of strategy to selling AND to stealing.
Someone just pinched your Athena chest? But it's 815pm. They have to survive the night, giving you a chance to get to an outpost (maybe even split your crew up and get to 2 outposts) whilst it is still night and locate the thieving pirate responsible as they wait for the sun to rise!
Also it would give the pocket watch more purpose and add another element to the voyages as you time your journey back to the outposts.
Additionally, this could make the tavern a more lively place. Drink, play music, games, and party the night away in the tavern while you wait for the morning to come to sell your hard earned loot.
