I've been watching One Piece lately, and immediately thought of my favorite Pirate game. How cool would it be to have a One Piece style event/crossover just like the Halo event!

Many games who are not even related to pirating worked on cosmetics in SoT so why cant One Piece do that?Lets just be clear, personally I hate One Piece but it would make more sense to do something with them then other games and series that arent related to pirating, while other themes and been covered pirate theme is a territory that not many used.
Even Rare have stated that one of the reasons they had made Sea of Thieves is because pirate themed game was barely touched, so they wanted to make something unique.
OP is not asking for a story crossover, just cosmetics.

A new Godzilla movie came out? Godzilla figurehead!! I dont see how it could hurt the game.

Companies have to pay to for permission to access and use those licenses. It's a calculated risk, where Rare could potentially lose money and end up actually hurting their own community. SoT doesn't need to sell out.
Besides, One Piece, while about pirates, is so fantastical, that it's about as far away from being pirate as you could possibly get and still have anything to do with being pirate. I think a lot of pirates would prefer something more traditional in a sense. Speaking of since, adding Godzilla in any form makes absolutely no sense.

Very inaccurate, im sorry but Sea of Thieves is in many ways simillar to One Peace, its not historically accurate its pure fantasy story. Its not that they just share the pirates theme but also share the same ground.
And this is why you can take couple thing and not full blown content from it, a ship set would not alienate Sea of Thieves.Godzilla dont make sense?

So what if they are both from Xbox, nothing in Sea of Thieves world shares a single thing with it, same for the other game related cosmetics but it dosent hurt the game.What both sides can benefit is just media buzz around it, cheap way to bring people's attention on both of them and it works perfectly.
Bleeding Edge did it with Sea of Thieves, Bleeding Edge had the Gold Hoarder hoverboard and Sea of Thieves had the Mutinous Fist set.

Sea of Thieves is TRADITIONAL pirate fantasy. One Piece is more like steam-punk.
As for most of the others, they're related through MS, not by theme, and as such are only further promoting themselves. And yes, that includes Bleeding Edge.
@galactic-geek This is more of your opinion then truth, but if we go on that road many ideas in the Sea of Thieves Concept artbook are completely Steampunk. Not to mention the Tinkerers set.
But it dosent even have anything to do with this subject because One Piece is not steampunk hahaha its Fantasy pirates themed, just more anime then Sea of Thieves.As youve said "most" this is why you have the exception, simple stuff from it wont make it any more strange then the Paradise set or Halo or a dude holding a Katana sword.

...and to be fair, I've only seen the 1st 3 episodes or so, and can't get into it. I stopped watching due to axe-hands, metal jaws, and rubber-bands... 🙄
@FaceYourDemon I think that most would agree that there's no other franchise better suited than PotC for a pirate-themed game - and yet we don't have it in SoT. Why do you think that is? 🤔

I know, and it's precisely why I don't watch it - I grew out of it. I had my fill with Dragon Ball, Naruto, and numerous others, and grew tired of the genre.
It's kind of like children growing older and no longer watching Power Rangers - same thing.
The only thing that impresses me about One Piece is it's longevity.

Most of those games that get cosmetic references are made by Rare or Microsoft.
@staringplace970 Im thinking about a lighter collaboration then this insane update, The straw hat can be cool and the ship set in the Emporium.
I really dont like One Piece but it would make me smile to see it coming to Sea of Thieves, it wont ruin my experience and someone that is a fan would go nuts over it so I really support it.

Imagine Rare add Strawhats into the game, they would look like this if they are using a sea of thieves characters and models style, basically will look like this, like fake strawhats xDDDD

@routineloki8336 while I love one piece as a anime I can’t see them collabin as cool as it would be we’re more likely to see more Disney ip goin forward hopefully it’s more than just pirates of the Caribbean as Disney has rights to ... monkey island since buying Lucas arts.. treasure island- also was done by them but was adapted from a novel... could even do Peter Pan adaption or pan movie......
