How about more than 90 FOV? I feel like I'm always aiming down sights at full FOV.
FOV?
I don't understand why the FOV limit is so low, increasing the limit would advantage everyone equally. There are many games with unlocked FOVs which are more traditionally competitive and where a higher FOV would give players a greater edge (e.g. Quake / Diabotical). If the viewmodel FOV is irreversibly dependent on the camera FOV then it might begin to make sense, but this is both unlikely and solvable. Adjusting to a lower FOV is not fun.
@picklechips1ff said in FOV?:
@hoi288 I'm glad you agree, and think many others do as well.
I don't. Performance will, and does, suffer as a result of higher FoV.
@galactic-geek While its true that less geometry can be clipped when using a higher FOV, it also allows all geometry to be drawn with a lower LOD bias as it takes up less room on the screen. Additionally making high FOV opt-in (which I think 90 already is) makes this a non-issue.
@picklechips1ff I can only imagine going higher would cause performance issues on lower end PC's and Xbox One?
Otherwise I don't see why it's not already a thing.
@galactic-geek My argument is not that the current FOV option has no effect on FPS, it's that players are able to make an informed decision on the tradeoff, that no negative changes would be automatically applied, and that the effect on FPS can be addressed.
@hoi288 During the early stages of development, the dev team said that they chose to limit it to 90 as anything above that affected the performance to a level that they were not comfortable with.
90 can also still effect the performance of the game.
