Bad Translations

    Hey Rare,

    there are so many bad translations in the Tall Tales - at least for German language.
    For example in Tall Tale 8 the chiffre "setting sun" is translated to "Einstellung Sonne". "Einstellung" translates to "setting" but only the configuration type of setting. The correct translation of "setting sun" should be "untergehende Sonne". Did you use google translator to translate this? This is ridiculous!
    Additionally you should make a decision if you want to translate names or keep them. Sea post Northstar is called "Northstar" in some occasions and "Nordstern" in others. Please keep it consistent.

    You should hire native speakers who know the game to make the translations.

    Yes, the setting sun translation is bad in Spanish too

    This is the exact reason why I refuse to play games in my native language (also german) and instead play in english.
    In Breath of Fire 3, back in the 90s, there was a riddle that was so badly translated that it became basically unsolvable in german blocking you from progressing in the story. It’s kind of funny that these problems are still a thing today.

    and the bad translation is still in the game. I wonder how it should be possible for children to solve this, if they can't make the connection that this might be a translation problem. They would literally be unable to solve the riddle, still 2 years after.. I LOVE the game, but that this isn't fixed nor be addressed is really sad

    Hey, most game developers outsource the translation to a so called localization service provider. It is quite common in the industry to save money on this and therefore having a lack of quality. It is a shame.

    Another common problem is that the developer send batches of words to the localization service that are out of context. Maybe a translator already translated "settings" as "Einstellungen" in a previous batch and they wanted to save money and used the old file.... not caring that it destroys the immersion :-/
