Extremely high ping (150+) on PC making the game unplayable

    This has been happening since I bought the game. This is also the only reason why I quit playing it. there was never a time within my 20 - 30 hours of gameplay where I didn't suffer from high ping or lag (rubber banding, teleporting and suddenly appearing very far under the ocean).

    I did a ping test on a website and it returned a latency of 11ms. When I did it on my PC (to check the connectivity to Xbox game servers it was 152ms). On average in games such as CSGO and Destiny 2 I get about 40 - 50 ms but anything past 90 is borderline unplayable. And yes, I am using Ethernet.

    If anyone has any suggestions, apart from restarting my router, I would be very happy and would surely return to the game :)

    anything past 90 is unplayable?

    shoot, when I get put on a server with people in China we are partying hard at a solid 300-500 ping.

    I play with 200-300 all the time quit ya sooking

    @callmebackdraft My region is set to UK, which is strange because my friend does not experience the same ping as me.

    @captainstab1n if ya read my post, you will see that I explain how it is literally unplayable. I cant walk in a straight line for more than 3 seconds; I either end up in a random place due to rubber banding, or on the bottom of the ocean if I am on a ship. Thats not the way I want to experience sea of thieves.

    @ultimo361535 do you also live in the UK ?

    Uk players get connected to european servers, what might be an issue is your NAT settings

    @captainstab1n it highly depends on the consistency of the ping.

    When i as a EU play on US servers i play with a consistent ping of 150, as long as it stays consistent there is no real issue.

    However when the ping keeps jumping around lets say between 150 and 200 you get the rubberbanding issues OP is talking about

    I play from South Africa I'm sure I'm connecting to the EU servers and my ping on average is 249-260 so the ping you have is way better than mine as I have to live with it since there is no way I can improve it as its unlikely that there will be a South African servers I also play Apex Legends and again connect to eu servers and the ping is the similar as Sea of Thieves.
