Reapers running

  • Idk why people raise emissary as reaper then run away until red sea, shored of gold or against wind without using any single cannonball. Like this was supposed to be PvP faction yet, it failed so hard. Idk maybe it needs some fixing or something else but this is pathetic 95% of the time they dont use cannonball which is hilarious and sad.

  • It "failed" as a PVP faction because despite the fact that stolen loot and other emissary flags reward the most gold and reputation on an individual basis, the Reapers' Bones still accept treasure items from each of the big three trading companies, and as a Reaper's emissary you still gain emissary ranks through finding random treasure and completing world events. On top of that, events spawn much more often, meaning Reapers can crisscross the map finishing them to gain standing.

  • It's a simple high risk high reward system

that's all it is. People are accepting more danger for higher payouts. No obligation to pvp at all. If you wanna fight them you gotta catch them

People chasing rarely have loot and often times are just hopping around servers looking for action so it's not like people are often following any sort of code of battle in these situations.

  • @wolfmanbush Does it pay higher? My crew mainly runs Reaper’s and I guess I thought the gold/doubloon payout was the same.

We love the battles and PvP the Reaper’s invite. So much fun encountering all different types, skill levels, and challenges of other crews.

My crew typically fights and welcomes the chance to do so. However, we are also a multi-tasking crew. Often we’ll split off and do 2-3 things at once (e.g. Drop a 1-2 off at an Ashen Winds, the ship works on some type of mission, and maybe send someone off to investigate a parked ship at an island.) Our ship doesn’t run often, but if we do, it’s because there is only one person on the Galleon making sure it stays afloat while the rest finish their various activities.

I’d wager a majority of the Running Reaper crews love the PvE and are completionists that want to max out all their Company/Emissaries.

  • I still think you should only receive rep for stolen loot.

I would go further have only stolen loot/flags, sending players to the ferry, and sinking player ships raise your emissary grade. In addition to having only stolen loot and flags giving reputation/emissary value.

They are a faction that they say embraces "true piracy". Sure, you will get paid for that mermaid gem you found sitting on a beach, but it shouldn't make you more respected in the faction to find stuff on a beach. With the trading companies, all they care about is that you brought them what they want. The reapers, however, want to put a stop to the pirate lord's dream of pirates working together and notions of adventure. They have a motivation beyond hoarding their preferred goods. If you want to move up in the ranks of the reapers, you should have to be one of them.

while this would probrably fit lore wise but i don't think this would be a good idea that works if at all

  • @cptkunkka

    What was the situation exactly?
    Crewsizes?

I dont PvP against higher numbers and let them easily have my booty.
    Simple as that!

You never know why people dont PvP.
    There can be multiple reasons.
I'd say if you have nothing to gain but much too lose why PvP?

People are too biased and lack empathy.
Unable to change their PoV imho.

And Reaper is no PvP Factions , you gain Rep by selling items you get by PvE mainly and only the flags you can get by PvP.
If you would Level Reapers with Flags or stolen loot only OK, but this is not the case.

People get the game wrong because of these stupid streamers serverhopping.

maxed out already, so i only run emissary when i crew and other people want to level.
To reveal myself on the Map feels dumb for a Pirate Like me.

Iike to Go after emissaries , but i've leraned to be smart and do it only when i am not undermanned.

Im a pirat not a hero , i smart not bold.

For example i got chased, but i already selled the worthy stuff to make it count for commendation.
So i boarded the chasers 2 times and anchored them.
They keep coming and they now protext ladders, i drop some loot , they dont want it and keep chasing, i drop some more loot.
Dont really need it , but do i grant it people 3v1 ? Hell, No of cause Not!
I sail into the shroud and rather sacrifice my loot to old mother than gift it to those who think they can outsmart and overrun me.

    Thats PvP Boy!

  • Rep grinding only reason people fly and run PvP is not on tha agenda.
Some people find the combat too stressful and pointless as they can't win...is a easy sink really worth the time of a good pirate?...

Yes, but in a non-standard way which increases in benefits based on Emissary Grade and centered on Gold gain rather than reputation/commendations outside of the Reapers.

Grade 1: The value is in that they will take all of your loot in one spot, no sorting or traversing to different Trading Companies across an outpost. Time is about the only benefit here...

Grade 2-5: The value here is more obvious, especially with mixed loot and a higher Emissary Grade. You need only increase the grade of the Reapers Emissary to get the maximum gold value out of all the loot, where as you would need to increase other Emissary Grades to the same level individually to achieve the same gold value. A lot more gold for potentially a lot less time.

I’d wager a majority of the Running Reaper crews love the PvE and are completionists that want to max out all their Company/Emissaries.

This. Gotta have all of the boxes checked and cosmetics in your inventory.

  • @wolfmanbush I catch them then they sink in 30 seconds kinda sad tbh xd

  • @xzodeak said in Reapers running:

Aye and lesser cash for found loot.

  • @reapinglegion pretty sure that’s how it currently works (the gold, that is. Obviously rep is gained regardless).

  • Last couple of days me an my mate are running a brig just trying to do our missions.
We are laid back and go with the flow.
Rule 1:If you shoot a cannonball or a player at us your hostile.
Rule 2: If you head towards us and come closer to us your hostile.
Rule 3:If your flying any emissary and your nearby at an island your hostile.

If you try to communicate with us we will parley.

We sank 5 ships last night. 2 were galleons full crew. A 3rd just gave up chasing us.

My favorite way to attract pvp is to have a level 5 merchant emissary flag and attack any reaper in sight.
I wish trading companies would get an emissary boost for defeating a Reaper Emissary.

    Companies should accept reaper flags!
And you would earn titles like
Preserver, Guardian, Defender, Protector, Patron of the Gold Hoarder/ Merchants/ Order of Souls...
