Private Servers

  • Sometimes when I play Sea of Thieves and spend hours getting loot, I get sunk and lose everything. I know the game has the word 'thieves' in it, but I think there should be a way to avoid being sunk by other good players when trying to have fun.

How about having private servers (that people will pay a bit of money for) to allow those who would rather not get into fights to complete quests and enjoy the game with their own crew? I got pirate legend recently but I'm not the best at PvP yet, and quite a lot of times when I spend 2 hours+ getting loot, I get sunk by sweats who are really good at the game, making me enjoy the game much less.

I really love Sea of Thieves - most people play it for fun, but some always want a fight. But, there's so much more to Sea of Thieves than fighting and it would be great if there was a way to experience the game without any disturbances.

    Thank you

  • You wanna...Pay for a game, and again pay for a Server just to play solo or with group of friends.
Which most likely will be for a few months since a lot of players get bored once they realized how empty the game is without player interactions.

    • Private servers are coming, BUT they wont have progression.
  • Custom servers without progress are in the works

"spend hours getting loot" change this to 20 minutes

Sell often. There are outposts all around the seas and most often they are on a path to wherever you are going.

If you can't protect your loot or handle losing it then sell it shortly after acquiring it

It's on you to sell your loot not on the pirate game to provide you with a safe experience. Prevent loss with efficiency

I play this game (mostly) solo, and I couldn't recommend frequent trips to ports strongly enough. Seaposts often work in a pinch too, if you're just looking to cash treasure items like Mermaid Gems in. Even immediately after each quest isn't unreasonable to me. I empathize though, especially if you're a solo sloop player you're going to be a target. The main thing to remember is that, aside from time lost by being sunk, there isn't exactly any real way to "lose" as treasure and skull bounty quests are infinite. So, it can be frustrating but if you keep the long view and understand that any set backs are only temporary it helps make things less frustrating when you do get sunk.

The only other real alternative, in my mind, would require fundamental changes to the game which seem unlikely.

  • Goes 2 hours without getting interrupted and doesn't' sell.

Complains when gets sunk with 2 hours worth of loot.

    sigh

That will be in the game, but u won't get gold, rep and things like that, seems fair to me, no way of losing gold = no gold

  • you dont want that, believe me. I'm pve player and all my crew and I know how you feel playing and doing the quests for more than an hour and then just boom all your hard work is claimed by someone. Like yesterday 3 of us get caught in two big NPC ships fight while we travel back from quest to outpost to sell items, since we are not good at the fight we spend all cannonballs, wood, and fight last almost a whole hour, all that is left to ram them and fight on board. Just in moment when we manage to sink two npc ships full of treasures big galeon come and sink us getting all our loot and loot from npc ships. Frustrating yes, but thats the part of the game that i like you never know what can happen and you cant predict, so that keeps you playing.
If you go on the private server you will play for a couple of weeks, see everything, challenge everything and you are done with the game maybe forever or for a good couple of months.
That sense of unexpected danger that is present while you travel and doing quests is what makes this game good.
The same thing was with worlds adrift game, and everyone wanted private and pve servers. Devs listen comunity and split servers into pvp and pve and game shutdown in a couple of month. I was playing constantly and on pve server that felling of danger that was not anymore present in game changes atmosfere totally to bad side. Everything become dull and you didnt value anything because other couldnt steal or attack you.

  • @guysporks1075 You can read an article by Joe here in regards to Private/Custom Servers.

As there is also a thread for discussion of Custom servers here, please post your thoughts and feedback there.

I'll be dropping anchor on this one.

    Thanks.
