Cannon Flares Are Unusable

  • I like the idea of the cannon flares, really anything to customize the ship is cool. However that cloud of smoke is too thick, we can't tell if we've hit the target, or if we missed whether we overshot or undershot.

I don't know if anyone else feels the same.

  • Agreed, you get punished for using any kind of flare in the game. The worst one by far I've seen is the New Years one that you got from the event. There's way to much going on with it.

Should be a option to hide it for yourself but other players can see it or something like that, might sound dumb since it kinda ruins the entire point with Flare-skins but rather that than removing it fully since it was poorly implemented.

  • How is it unusable? By the time the cannon is reloaded the flare is 90% faded away.

  • 100% of your aim is before you even fire the shot from your cannon. Cannon-flare bloom therefore shouldn't be an issue.

  • You know you have three things that happen to tell you when you "Hit"

    1. Sound/Audio cue
    2. Impact effect on crosshair( you notice it)
    3. Crashing sounds of cannonballs.

So regardless of the flare, you can still tell when you hit something. It more player issue than gaming.

  • @galactic-geek it's not a problem for you first shot, but for the second, third, etc, while you're trying to zero in your aim, (especially for the longer shots) it can be an impediment to your accuracy.

What my fav Australian just said...

And also, i haven't notice any difference....at all, maybe im just adjusting to it way to quick? 😂

...well you need to sometimes adjust your shot after you've shot once. You sometimes can't see how well your shot went to micro adjust, I agree with @PartyInSanJuan. They're currently not worth the hassle.

  • @capt-soul-beard agreed, Re- Adjusting because of animation is a bit of a killjoy.

As mentioned above, maybe smoke less thicker and amination disappears a bit quicker.

  • @partyinsanjuan I disagree, for reasons already explained by others...if you don't like them and/or they affect your aiming, just don't use them...

Generally, you only really need to readjust with long-range shots, in which case the cannon flare is long gone and you can still see the cannonball. If it's not a long-range shot, then you're just a bad cannoneer in need of more practice.

  • @mferr11 so is your cannonball. And you didn´t see if you aimed to low or to high.

  • @yaboysuy0 Disagree. It's quite easy to tell if your shot hit, and you can still see your cannonball most of the time. I've never found it an issue.

If it's such a big deal to some people than they should just add an opacity slider for them in the options.
