Temporary ship speed boost

    Im thinking of an item used in a similar fashion to a cursed cannon ball except its intended to be uses on your own ship rather than another persons.

    To activate the item it could be cooked on the stove and whilst its burning the effect takes hold til the item dissolves and disappears.

    The speed boost doesnt have to be long. It can be found like any other cursed cannon ball and with RNG, probably wont be overly abundant like others arent too.

    What it would mean though is that stocking up matters.

    Use the item to catch ships or escape or just travel somewhere quicker.

    No idea what the item could be but perhaps it could be a skull or something that imbues the ship with the spectral sailing abilities as skeleton ships.

    Perhaps a ritual skull with blue tinted eyes something.

    Eitherway its no more overpowering than a cursed cannon ball and not too intrusive.

    @daringclarky We already have this - simply drop a gunpowder barrel behind your ship and shoot it (or you can light it and then drop it for more precise timing). The ensuing explosion will give you quite a nice "oomph!" 😅😉

    I was debating whether to bring this trick up or not. Not a lot of people seem to use it.

    Quick tip: Watch out for your row boat if you light and drop it. I’ve gone from feeling ‘big brain’ to clown in just seconds because of this.

    @daringclarky I am apposed to this. For the same reason I don't like curse cannon balls, changes PvP from skill vs skill to more luck vs skill encounters. With one keg and 3 weary balls only I've sank a Gally solo. That was not skill, I was lucky to have 3 weary balls.

    But curse cannon balls exist so who knows many ship buffs will be a thing just like ship debuffs are? What's next? Superpowers that make your health bar bigger or the ability to spit poison 😅

    @daringclarky I think it could be a fun feature to allow speed bonuses. What if we could use an item like a simple Winds Skull as opposed to a fiery ashen winds skull that allows a short and temporary burst when blown directed at sails...? Maybe drop these instead of dropping villainous skulls from random Skeleton Captains.

    I dont really think an item that removes the need to be good at sailing to gain the upper hand in a sailing game is a good idea. Even with cursed cannonballs you still have to hit your shots which from long range in rough seas takes a degree of skill.

    Is it practical though?
    Does it work well enough viably use them like this?

    Interesting...

    Would you mind giving me some tips to best utilize this and things to watch for?

    Theres no need to 'what next' me im only proposing an idea.

    If i was in charge i wouldnt even ask anyone and just do it lol.

    Got me thinking.
    An absurd addition would be flying ships!

    Can you imagine, like aerial combat flying ships.

    Rare should make a new game but set it in a steampunk era. 😂

    There uses to be a game like that but it failed for some reason.

    You make a good point there.
    Patient players that amass resources would have an advantage.

    I would hate to be on a crew that farms fort resources though
