Twitch drops again.. 😵😵😵

  • This must be why pirates wear eye patches. They have been forced to gouge their own eyes out watching streamers for a period of time once again!

With so little new content in this update, why oh why are certain items only tied to this horrendous system of unlocking things?

I'm sure most people would much rather play the game they love and earn items the traditional way.

Enough of it.. Add content to your game and stop trying to make us watch this nonsense to earn things.

  • boo hoo 20 minutes to half an hour after clicking a link to get free stuff while participating in community surrounding the game we play

those streams generate interest in the game and that expanding player base benefits us all in the end I don't see an issue with everyone helping everyone and we get rewarded for it

  • [Mod edit]

  • @wolfmanbush I think his point is that they need to add more items to unlock playing the game. A valid complaint seeing as after two years of being away from the sea there are only a handful of new cosmetics. Pretty sad IMO 😢

  • @WolfManbush

The few times in the past I clicked on links to twitch drops I witnessed adults hiding away on children's ships and streaming their conversations unaware some adult was onboard for so long.

You think that is a good thing?

    Seriously!

  • @methetron-mkii What does being a women even have to do with that 🤔 what's the point in saying that 🙄

  • [Mod edit]

  • @methetron-mkii smh women are equal to men. Ask your government officials.

I've never been someone interested in tucking

People are aware that what they are saying is public they are aware of streamers most of these kids are the ones that make up the streamer viewership. They get all excited when they realize they are interacting with streamers on a regular basis.

It's pretty manipulative to appeal to emotion with thinly veiled creeper accusations in order to get what you want

The top streamers all use hidden names so that people are not identified or harassed which I think handles any ethical dilemma just fine

  • @expsnailer whoosh

  • Some nice stuff there. Lots of it. 5hr worth of watching. I spose i can leave it running while we watch xmas movies 🎄

    uh

did we not just complete and are we not in the middle of all sorts in in game events to unlock cosmetics?

is this real life or just fanta sea?

  • @wolfmanbush 2years ago the shops looked just about as empty they are now, this is real life. ❤️ One would hope after two years with cosmetics being the only rewards that there would be and overflowing abundance. There just isn't.

  • Just watch phuzzybond.

Family friendly, wholesome, and full of helpful hints that will make you not only better at the game, but a better person in life (cause honestly you come off as a bit of a whinger, which is not a desirable quality to have)

  • You do know...you dont HAVE to watch the stream.
Start it up, minimize window and do something else.

You also...dont HAVE to watch anything. Just leave it alone and be on your way.

  • I'd rather in-game cosmetics locked behind commendations than from watching someone play the game. Why is that such a divisive opinion?

  • @needsmokes Im not too into streamers either but have you tried Captain Falcore? I actually find his streams enjoyable to watch.

Just to be clear Im not a fan of the entire twitch drop thing either. Especially since when I do it most of the time I have to contact Rare for my stuff and yes everything is linked up properly.

  • Never have had any problems. Always just throw it on when i wake up and grab the stuff before I leave every morning. It's an okay system. Some streamers get some love and boosted numbers, and generally makes the community better. Usually not awfully worried about getting the cosmetics, especially since you have 24 hours to watch 20 minutes. If something ever goes wrong, I guess I'll just get a support ticket and Rare will give me the item. Plus, free stuff for pushing a few buttons.

  • I just set my alarm for early morning, wake up to it, grab my phone while it's on the charge cable, open Twitch, start up Captain Falcore or Beardageddon's stream, and then go take a shower. By the time, I'm done, the cosmetic is as good as mine.

  • It is rather baffling how they refuse to add to the shops unless it’s the emporium or some unfunny streamers.

  • I might set up a task schedule to just open my browser to one of the streamers at the appropriate time. Work smarter, not harder.

You're not really doing anything here but insulting some of the most dedicated players, who give the game free advertising.

I don't think people like you realize how dead this game would be if it weren't for content creators doing more to advertise the game than the devs themselves.

You literally don't even have to watch the streamer; just mute the tab (not the player) and leave it open for 30 minutes, then claim your drop.

I'm not a woman, but I can multitask my phone doing one thing while I play a video game I enjoy.

Sick misogyny bro, real gamer move. Are you kidding me @Deckhands?

  • @comrade-molly

Most people have said similar.. Just click the tab and close window.
So, what's the point in any of it then? Clearly no one wants to be subjected to watching it, that's evident from what's written.

I have been looking at streamer numbers on this game now and then for a few years now, since the delusion became apparent that these people were needed to make a game succeed. And considering millions play this game and only a small handful of thousands watch people playing this game. I'll leave that there. The numbers speak volumes.

The game, and all games will be fine without them. And i would much rather earn content from a game by playing it, rather than cheesing some non game related thing to earn rewards.

The numbers Rare releases are a clever marketing trick, and they know it. They release total player numbers but they include anyone who's installed the game on Game Pass and tried it once. (This is how we get the lie of "only 3% of players play Arena")

You simply lack the data analysis skills to see that streamers have been a net positive for the game. Sea of Thieves has always occupied a much larger space on Twitch than games of similar size, because the game lends itself very well to being streamed content. Way more people play Fortnite than the amount of people who watch Fortnite content, but that doesn't mean that content creators haven't helped Fortnite's rise to becoming the most popular game around (or League of Legends before it).

Plenty of people enjoy the Twitch communities that have sprung up around this game. Pace regularly gets 5k+ viewers, Boxy gets 2k+, many other streamers get between 2k and 100.

Twitch drops give streamers the opportunity to grow their communities and their livelihoods. If you want the drops, it's very easy, but the one thing you have to give a qualifying streamer a view for a short amount of time; it's completely free.

Stop complaining and insulting streamers. Nobody's forcing you to claim free items, and you'll survive if you miss them. You're just acting like a big baby.

  • @comrade-molly

Last few times I've looked, a game I used to play 20 years ago, Heroes of Might and magic 3 has a much bigger audience than SOT.
This game does not attract big viewing numbers, never has!

That game has 1,259 average players on steam charts for the last 30 days. Are you joking?

Nobody on twitch wants to watch irrelevant 20 year old games. You fundamentally do not understand the content creation market; old games rarely make it to prominence on Twitch, and when they do, it's because some of the largest streamers on Twitch get more people interested in the game. This is literally what happened with Among Us recently; it was a mobile game that was only moderately popular until some big streamers brought some attention to the game, and now the devs are having a ton more success, growing their company, and adding new content.

Sea of Thieves is NOT an old game, and is naturally a much better streaming game than some ancient RTS garbage, because of the unique player interactions and the unpredictable PVP.

  • @comrade-molly

And as of right now, It has 1,800 people watching it being streamed..

    That's a streaming success!

Sea of thieves currently has 2.7k watching.. How many of those are bots? at least 75% i would think. The other 25% probably have a window closed just to earn a reward.

Leaving aside the riduculous assumption that you have about the numbers being "real" for one game, and "bots" for another, simply because it suits your argument:

It's the middle of the night in the US, this is literally the slowest time of day for SoT twitch numbers.

Also, there aren't any drops available at the moment.

  • Morning All

Can we keep to the topic in hand please! Sexism and inequalities have no place in our forum!

Many thanks for your help with keeping this place and our community an inclusive welcoming place to be :)

  • @comrade-molly

Either way.. It's never been a popular game with it's streaming numbers.
People prefer to play games and earn things in that game.
Not be coerced into trying to boost someones failing numbers to gain a reward.

I personally know and am friends with at least 3 streamers who have gotten partnered with Twitch off of streaming Sea of Thieves. It's actually a pretty good directory to grow your audience in, because the chatters are more engaged than in a lot of other similar sized directories, and there's not a huge amount of big names already monopolizing the space.

Again, you're just making up whatever helps you feel like you're "winning" this argument, [Mod edit]

I mean he's already here with a specific agenda and refusing to listen to anyone who disagrees with him and soundly proves him wrong over and over. You might as well close the thread.
