Why is it that everytime I go to repair the mast it falls back down
I raise mast, I get wood, it falls, I raise it again. It falls again.

@robby0316 What @SOT-Player30 said is correct. It's a bug that's been in the game for several months. I've had it happened dozens of times and even had a few times I had to let it fully fall more than once. Game breaking bugs don't seem to be to much of a concern so hopefully they fix it sometime soon.
@venomous-sloth7 I just got done massacring a brig when another brig third parties me, knocks my mast down, I catch it, raise it, then before I can put planks on it drops again. No big deal only lost a vault and few skeleships. Still annoying.
@galactic-geek nope. They stopped firing after the mast came down, then tried to board but they got killed. Eventually they realized our mast was staying down and finished the job. It was a shame as they had third partied me after I 1 v 3 a noob brig

Its more about lag then it is a bug.
Are you playing on someone elses server?? Do you have choppy internet??
I've run into this problem but only when I was having latency issues.
Basically the game is registereing inputs a full second too late, so lets say you hear the click and your character lets go of the mast. Whats happening is the game is still registering your character pulling "down" on the ropes even after you let go because of the latency issue. Anytime you notice this happening, you have to let go yourself right as you hear the click.
They should try to figure out a different way to do this so that the sail won't drop back down but yeah, hope this helps you until they do.
