5-10 man ships

  • I am aware that this has been brought up in the past, doesnt make the suggestion any less valid.

I would love to see ships that would allow multiple people between 5-10 people, or to allow current ships to have more people on them. A galleon could easily do 10 people given its size.

Alternatively allowing friends to join your server even if your ship is full, by joining on their own ship into an alliance with you. I have many friends who would like to play this game with me but I am limited to 3 of them at any time, and have about 20 people who want to play. Many others want to get the game but have no interest given how limited it is on grouping up.

I am not particular in how more players could play together, but anything would help. Even increasing the galleon to just 5 would be vastly helpful, but hopefully the changes if implemented are more encompassing.

  • How fun would it be if you are playing with a friend doing a Gold Hoarder and a 10-person ship ganks you? doesn't sound that fun to me.

The jump betwen 1 to 4 is already big enough and by expanding that gap it would just hurt the game in general.

  • I made a post about this a while back:

  • @itz-majman If you are in a 2 man sloop and you get sunk by a 10 man galleon, or even a slower ship assuming they make a 10 man ship, that's on you. I have taken on 2 galleons and a brigantine that were working together, while in a sloop, and my friend and I were able to sink one of the galleons and the brigantine, before getting away. It happens rather frequently where we fight more players then us, in more ships then us. Its not really a problem, most of the time working to our favor.

Even if they were to completely ignore making larger ships, adding the ability for friends to join in a new ship into an alliance on the same server, wouldn't upset the balance nearly as much as most would think. Its already an option in game to group up with complete strangers to work together. Why would grouping up with friends upset the balance any more then that?

This option wouldn't upset the individual mechanics of any of the ships in a PVP setting, and not offering much or any advantage in a PVP setting (More then a normal alliance would anyway). This option would also more then likely be the easiest to implement from a development perspective as it would largely use already developed systems already in place.

  • @ricewynd Your idea is fundamentally different in just about every way, including putting them in their own mode. Not at all related to this thread.
