Questions about steam.. and some ramblings

    i have a few questions about upcoming steam launch.

    1. will i be able to merge my xbox and steam account so i can just download the game off steam off that platform instead of the microsoft store.
    2. will i have to buy the game again on steam to use it on steam?
    3. if i have to buy it again to use it on steam will the game recognize my xbox account or will i have to start a new character?
      4.will there finally be the PC only option?
      why do i want a pc only option?- well typically people who own pc's are older. it has nothing to do with the xbox community. im just sick of being called a N***** by a 12yr old. there are also some technical issues like xbox users cant text in chat and they all have a 15$ mic set up instead of quality coms.

    All these questions aside if you said that i had to buy the game all over again and that i had to start a brand new character, i would hands down dump my athena 7 PL to play on a pc only server and never have to use The horrible Xbox console companion to try and join my friends games. The windows-G thing is also complete trash.
    It should be noted i know how to add games to my steam that are not currently released by steam but it just works as an app launcher and you still get stuck using the original launcher eg. RDR2 through Epic. ill never know what the ending of that game is because im ashamed i got it through epic then steam released it...

    @slowwhisky i have no answers sorry. But Xbox does have in game text chat. Most people don't notice it's up on the dpad. I hate using it because I don't keep my keyboard on my controller. But it's there (^_^)

    I would expect you would have to buy it again on steam and I would think signing in with your Microsoft account should port your character over I am pretty sure a Microsoft account is required and as for pc only servers I think if that's something you want perhaps ask for it in the cross play mega thread but I think it's a very reasonable request

    Steam has had this feature for ages, the ability to add a non-steam game. So highly unlikely they have to rebuy a game.

    @nabberwar I don't know for a fact but read somewhere gear 5 and state of decay 2 you had to rebuy I am not 100% sure tho

    It has been confirmed by @S0nicbob on Reddit, that you will need to re-purchase it on Steam if you want it on there: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seaofthieves/comments/ftm2ob/sea_of_thieves_coming_to_steam/fm7xcrt?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

    The SoT Steam page states it requires 3rd party DRM via Microsoft, which means you will login to your normal Xbox account and so you will still have access to your pirate/progression etc.

    There is an FAQ being compiled which will hopefully be with us soon!

    IMO, I don't think we'll have PC-only servers, especially with the Series X coming out.

    @slowwhisky So you bought the game through microsoft store and played on xbox and now going to PC? If that is case you do not need to buy the game again. I actually load into SOT through the x box app.

    I think lobbies are supposed to already be set up as cross play optional but usually not enough players so I find myself in lobbies with xbox'ers all the time.

    nope Im on pc now, through the xbox app. its a horrible application. what id like is pc only servers so i dont have to play with the xbox community.

    @slowwhisky I get it, what you say about xbox community. From my expiernce as someone who plays on xbox, ps4 and PC, xbox community is by far the most immature and I do not know why that is.Not sure if SOT will ever get PC only lobbies, may not be enough people playing to support it, I get server merged enough with all players. However atleast there are alot of good xbox people out there so yeah sure while some are not the best I mean you can still run into some cool ones. I mean I have met cool xboxer's so they are not all bad.
