  • @tidus2105 My delightful lady and I have found the only real way to deal with Karen is a sloop. One downstairs at all times; do not anchor or raise sails and you should be hunky dory. If you have a rowboat, it helps. Annoying as scurvy, but once you've escaped one, you can escape them all! See you out there, hopefully. 🏴‍☠️

  • That is a pickle for sure. I always make sure I have a rowboat when I solo, and I immediately put any treasure I have in it when a kraken shows up. If I sink, the rowboat will still be there for a while if nobody else finds it first.

  • Unfortunate but there are ways of dealing with the kraken. When ye are on the island check the skies for a skull or ship shaped cloud. If either of those are up then the kraken can't spawn. If yer on the island and the clouds are not in the sky then the kraken can spawn. So if yer scared to lose yer booty then sit on the island for a bit and wait for one of those clouds to appear. And if you choose to set sail and a kraken does show up then it is possible to escape it. Just make sure ye get the tentacle that wraps around the ship off with a cannon and when it tries to suck you into one of its tentacles then get below deck.

Well, Mr Tidus 2105, once again i'm going to ask you to reconsider ...Not to torture you nor have sarcastic fun but , as long as you aren't in a Brigantine ,of wich the tentacles have closed off the entrance to the hull ,then a Kraken is not that hard to escape...Make sure you set yer Helmswheel at course towards the end of the inkcircle. Then repair every hole , don't be afraid to ask your girlfriend to help with bailing if you feel the water rises too fast , if you have everything under control , then one of you shoot the tentacles with the canon...
If you are afraid of becoming vacuumed up , you keep ,if you play a Sloop , yourself in that middle deck , hiding behind the wood that surrounds the windows and deliver shots with yer pistol or eye of reach...
And if you have a rowboat attached ,then you're certainly safe ,even if it should sink yer ship...Wait till the loot comes flowing up and load everyting up, it takes some time but a Kraken doesn't attack rowboats, ...
After a while your ship will have reached out of the circle , picks up speed and the kraken was just a little nightmare in a dream of a game....Remember to resupply often so you don't run out of planks /canonballs...Like i said , i don't want to torture you nor yer Girlfriend, i just find it sad if people quit a great family game like this....It takes a bit experience , wich we all have learned by getting downed and scrambling back up, and some adaptation...If one thing doesn't work ,try a different thing and if all fails then come to this Forum and ask for hints and tips or ask to join a more experienced crew to show you the ropes...People really want to help you if you reach out to them, Sir. But don't get discouraged , for this the game is simply too beautiful , too rich and too diverse in adventures of all kinds to let your courage down....What say ye , try another round and you may come both out of it as winners or survivors , What say ye ? Pirate Lion or Pirate Mouse , it's all up to you ? Getting foam of anger by my last remark ? Good, good , use that tenacity to show that squid that it was the last time that she played with Mr Tidus2105 his feet....GRRRR...That's what i want to hear ...Now , Come on ,Captain ,raise that sail, load that flintlock and keep that cuttlass sharp Grab it , it's there for the taking!!!

  • @tidus2105

'Tis true the kraken takes a bit o' practice and the usual rules o' the sea apply - hand in yer loot often and keep sailing close to the shores of those islands, this will also deter Meg as well.

For some hints and tips, there's a handy guide here and as yer experience grows ye'll find yerself able to defeat these 'ere monsters o' the deeps.

  • @tidus2105 I do not want to be the one who is the one but kraken is easy on Sloops....abit to easy, i down it easily solo with no extra effort. - Just shooting the tentacles.
When it grips, just slash 'til it eventually release you...unless it grips your pathway down for the repairing then its done but yea, practise man (and your GF of course).

EDIT: AND if it tries to suck you in then run downstairs or grab the wheel/cannon and you should be fine.
Sure, sometimes it happends that it sucks you from the ship even if you're downstairs but that never happends.....not often anyway!

    Goodluck!
