Recent sword changes are causing bugs

  • This is not a complaint about the actual delay added to the sword when striking, it's about all the issues that came along with it.


    The new sword delay transfers to other items if you fairly quickly do a swap after you draw your sword. We are used to left/right click while equipping the treasure map or other items for example, but now the click doesn't respond since you have to wait for the animation on that specific item to finish and then click again. It's like every action is stuck and you have to "spam" the mouse to get the interaction you want. It's annoying and makes every action clunkier.

    Also in combat, you can't block right away due to the sword wield animation that needs to play out. So swapping guns during combat actually punish you due to the delay. And don't get me started on food; If you shoot someone, draw your sword, get shot and you want to heal? There's a delay.

    I've also noticed that the sword thrust/dash is slower to respond from click to begin animation and also causes major frustration due to the block delay upon drawing the sword. Again, you can't block right away. Using this in PVE or PVP moments is pure pain.

    I'm 100% positive that these delays to other items related to the sword are not intentional since all they wanted to do was to delay the strike, not any other interaction that comes after the sword wield.

    Rare, you really need to fix this issue. Once you swap to an item/map/other gun after the sword draw, the delay should be cancelled out. Everything you do now feels very stiff and slower.

    Well, I tried. I really can't believe I haven't seen other posts about this, because it bothers the sh#t out of me. It's a big problem and needs to be fixed.

    I feel like more people should be talking about this and was surprised to see not many bringing it up. The delay on maps and the spyglass specifically are my main complaints, but even having your sword and trying to sprint right away can cause me to end up spamming the button about 3 times before it registers. (I use controller on pc). I understand that there is a delay, but it just feels like the buttons aren't registering even when im by myself and not in a pvp situation.

  • To add to this, I've also found that switching from gun to sword while aiming causes your pirate to unintentionally and constantly block even if you let go of the button. This really ruins combat.

  • It seems we're all a little tipsy nowadays....... Where be me maps?! Aha dere they be! Now let me see here? Right bumper to open them ......left stick to move to the one on scurvy isle.....release left stick and har har harrr there it is!! Now hit right stick, ouch....... B button, A button, depress left stick run, a button, jump turn pull pistol out no the other pistol without the pointy tip dummy! Laugh because your attacker is stuck in a slo mo version of sword lunge, shoot, jump, then accidentally pull out maps again as you go in for the kill! The controls are madness , pure madness I say! They're coming to take me away ah ha! 🙃

  • I’ve also noticed that if they block your sword and are using mouse, they can just jump over you and hit you in the back before you can react.
