@ultmateragnarok i dont think it would be easy for someone to make jack sparrow, and im not sure many people would want jack sparrow, maybe a few kids. either way i doubt peoples ability to craft a perfect looking jack sparrow, even if 20 people tried making jack sparrow, im sure each and every jack sparrow would look different. and if crews want to look identical, sure why not, they can role play as a family of pirates, that honestly sounds cool to me. its not like it matters, they have name tags. atm you can already make players look the same with just cosmetics, i mean if you all have the skinniest player model, and all wear the same clothes, same face paint and hair, you will look similar, cause you cant really notice the player themselves, just the cosmetics.
"You're supposed to look like a pirate, not some strangely proportioned monster (though some could argue that some pirates already look like that), and not a flawless example of royalty or whatever."
you wouldnt be able to create a proportioned monster, if you pick a fat model, you have to pick from the available fat person traits, same for skinny and buff, its that simple. as for the flawless example of royalty, why does it matter, what if someone wanted to role play a king who turned pirate after his kingdome was overthrone, why stop players from being creative? why stop the possibilities? a pirate can be anyone, you keep saying you have to look like a pirate, but anyone can be a pirate? you cannot look like a pirate because anyone and everyone could be a pirate, it really doesnt matter.
"It's the same reason none of the sets tend to match perfectly between multiple ones - it reinforces the 'pirate' look to have them mismatched." im not sure what you mean with this.
anyways, with how many possible characters there are in the game rn, there is no reason for player-created pirates to look the same, the only reason they would look the same is if their was limited customisation, but their isn't, as we have seen the random generator is able to make endless amounts of different looking pirates. therefore there is no reason us humans wouldnt be able to do the same, its not like we all think the same and want the exact same thing, like i said i would like a fat guy a skinny guy and a buff guy. i would really like to see this tested with insiders, because i really doubt we would all make charecters that look the same. i truely believe the variety in the way pirates look would be just as good as it is now, if not better
