Cycling through Food on Xbox

  • I was watching a streamer this evening and he was cycling through his food inventory without opening the food dial. How can I do that on xBox? I hate when I forget I have fish in my inventory when I go to eat a banana and eat the fish. And I don’t like that I have to hit the start button to tab to my inventory to select a fruit.

  • @purplemajic Ahoy matey!

You can assign a key binding to fruit/food in the controller settings. I use the right DPad for this and it makes it much easier!

  • I was thinking that. I’ll give it a try. Biting the head off a rare trophy fish is annoying. Haha! Thank you.

  • He was also cycling through fruit and fish.

That's the same...you can have 5 things with you...if it's 2 fish and 3 different food you cycle through this by just pressing the binded button...

  • Okay. So no way to keep from eating the fish. Thanks! I’ll test it out soon to see if it will work for me.

  • Also, my controller’s right thumbstick is set to cycle cannonballs when I push it in. It makes it so much easier to pick the right ammo for the situation during a fight. It was a game changer for us.

  • We always seem to eat raw fish right during a crucial boarding moment or ship battle :D LOL

  • I use a controller on PC... I have left on d-pad assigned to Push-To-Talk, right on d-pad cycles food (fish, meat and fruit), and pushing on right stick is eyeglass. I find this layout really works great for my style of play.

I do the exact same. Keep pressing right Dpad and you can cycle past a fish you have in your invitory.

  • I would recommend right stick for food. Makes it much easier to grab your food while in a fight and not have to compromise aiming and shooting at someone. But at the very least, map it to something.
