@n3xusp0laris sagte in Gameplay suggestion/ improvements:
I’ve been playing since Alpha and played for a good solid month or so before I put the game down until the recent Anniversary Update, which I must say, is a very welcome addition!
However, I do have a few suggestions:
- We should be able to drink the rum bottles in the crates we come across.
Ok
- Timed delivery quests are probably the least played of all quests, maybe axe them or make them more interesting?
Ok
- Ship Capacity -
•Sloops should be able to hold 3 players. •Brigantines should be able to hold 4 players.
•Galleons should be able to hold 8-player crews.
This would become a serious balancing issue for PvE and PvP.
- When you form alliances, you should be able to select which of the ships you spawn onto when you die.
Oh please dont, it will become so worse, that nobody will ally up anymore.
This sounds like a suggestion from someone playing on alliance servers, but is not that familiar with random Alliances on the regular.
- Would help if, once an alliance is formed, you turned off friendly fire so we can work together more efficiently and not worry about hitting each other if we take on multiple enemies in a group at once.
I'm promoting the idea of friendly fire in crews to have more funny accidents happen, be able to duel anytime and to increase difficulty and challenge of a crew.
Especially when it comes to cutlass spamming.
- Current Brigantine Brig placement should be switched with the current map table placement.
I think the Map Table of the Galleon belongs to the captains Quarters and the Map Table of the Brigantine should be there where you drop your journey.
The Brig on the Brigantine is also some sort of a tactical blocker to boarders and to defend the stairway from below deck.
- Ship Saves- There should be some sort of mechanic where we can save our ship setups and contents when we quit the game so we don’t have to waste time gathering things every single time we log into a new play session.
Because this is a session based game people with plenty of time don't have any advantages.
I'm against this, because this means powergamers would get a significant advantage.
They will steamroll with nearly endless supplies, cursed cannonballs, food etc.
Keep it session based because of balance.
- Should be able to Harpoon the Rowboat
yes, why not
- There should be an easier way to find mermaid statues
I think it's easy enough.
- Should be able to harpoon the krakens tentacles
I dont know why, but ok, i see no problem with this.
- Spawn explosive holding skellies less frequently. It gets annoying
Actually i feels like they are toned down. I over time got the feeling the spawnrate changes dependent on what is actually happening in SoT - Bilge Rat Adventures, Tall Tales etc...
- Zip lining with your sword when the harpoon line is attached to something should be a thing
Cool suggestion
- Higher gold payouts for items turned in.
Was increased a lot and things got much cheaper. There is already some sort of inflation.
Sone people sit on xx Millions of gold already while having buyed everything you can buy.
I at least have 1.3 Million i know someone who has 23 Million.
Way too much!
- A level-up system that actually improves swimming, lung capacity, fighting, ship sailing, treasure digging, weapon accuracy, damage, bucket capacity, and healing would be amazing
It would let me instantly quit playing. I love this game for having horizontal progression and having all players gamemechanically same strong. No gamemechanics that create a gap for powergamers and casuals.
The gap is already there because of playerskill and practice, knowledge of the game. You need not and you mustn't increase this gap by rewarding powergaming with perks.
Vertical progression is the worst thing i came across playing games.
To me this began to get worse when you need to play more to get that better ironsight in Arena based Shooters for example.
I'm playing games for 33years and i know what i'm talking about.
The performance focussed society and the performance focus on playing games is rather about gaming systems than about playing games for fun!!!
So a big no from me.
- Cooking should be more elaborate, you should be able to combine ingredients and find recipes in barrels on the map as well as create a chef faction where recipes have to be learned from around the game world to improve your cooking skill making it possible to feed more amounts of people in a crew faster as well as heal faster and more efficiently with higher level recipes
I am not completely against it, but i dont want to play a survival game or have fishing and cooking become mandatory. It is already a benefit in PvP if you have cooked food.
I am pro more complex stuff, but keep it optional.
- Pets - a pirate should at the very least be able to have a parrot they can interact with. Maybe a dog or cat?
Will be added soon, i already have seen a monkey in insider build.
- More sea life - Whales, dolphins, jelly fish, sea otters, turtles, etc.
Sure.
- There should be a mechanic to Cut Harpoon Ropes when enemies attach them to your ship.
I think although this is very much logic it is not easy to have this implemented in a balanced way.
But i vote yes.
- There should be pub games like darts, pool, or card games implemented at every tavern
Dies and all you want.
And waste your gold for this!
- Cannons with wheels should be moveable.
If it needs 4 people to move it yes, but here we go and have another balancing Problem for people soloing etc...
- Lighthouses! There should be lighthouses so we don’t run into land masses in storms...you know? Like irl? Also the lighthouses should hold different flame colors and you should be able to implement a commendation collecting system around that.
There are the Flames from the Festival of the Damned event.
Good idea to use them.
- Bounty System - there should be bounties set on either NPCs or actual players or both where you can tie them up and either bring them in for a reward or make them literally walk the plank. Should also be able to stick them in the brig.
I already explained elsewhere how easy this can be exploited and how much a PK would like this and laugh up one's sleeves.
I can explain this further, but need to know what is your intention to have such a system!?
It will encourage PvP and PvP need not and mustn't be incentivized in an open sandbox full loot PvP environment. I played some games with such systems from UO to original Darkfall from Aventurine and recently Legends of Aria.
All their system about Karma, Bounty or whatever do not work, because they can be circumvented and easily exploited. In the end it encourages people to game these systems.
That’s all I can think of right now, but it would make the game more exciting!
Not all, but some i agree and some are very worse, sorry.
I want to add having a wheelbarrow to transport stuff on islands would be cool.
Adding a chance to jam a firearm when it got wet.
And get rid if exploits like animation breaking to still be able to duoblegun or dig faster etc...
is more important to me.
