New Arena Mode Idea - All for One

    Imagine, 6 ships all wanting a single piece of very important cargo - a letter of marque (📜), but only 1 can have it! All race to 1 of 3 rumored potential destinations that have it in order to get it, but only 1 of the 3 actually has it. Once retrieved, the ship that has it is "marqued" (no other ships are visible on the world map) and must deliver it to a single destination within a single day - if the time period lapses, the ship that has it wins, with the remaining ships being ranked by the amount of time they held onto it. The other ships will be able to track the marque, and can potentially create uneasy or temporary alliances, but do not know of the marqued ship's destination, which is only revealed upon receipt of the letter.

    @galactic-geek its called oddball. and its a very fun game in halo. would be fun to play it in sea of thieves

    It's ok but not knowing who has it loses its excitement but you did give me an idea for another arena mode that's simple.

    Add some item that all crews have to get and which ever crew holds onto it the longest (or on ship) gets the most points. Maybe add points for other crews to strive for aka ways the other crews can catch up. Make the map somewhat small so you cant just outrun other ships all the time? I dono let's iterate.

    @galactic-geek I didn't even think about that connection. But if it was a skull item in sea of thieves also, then they could make it call out to the other ships. Like a wailing skull, maybe it could even spawn AI skellies on the ship that is holding the skull periodically to attack the team holding the item.

    with all this being said, arena isn't even out yet and doesn't have several items in it that will most likely be added later when balanced properly. (gun powder kegs, rowboats, cursed cannon balls) so new game modes for arena are probably not coming for a while. Love the idea though.

    @geobiwan Not sure if I like the AI-spawning idea; I imagine having 5 other ships to contend with would be hard enough.

    What do you mean not knowing who has it? You would know exactly who has it! What you wouldn't know is where they were taking it.

    Also, this thread is about my arena mode idea, not yours - if you want to propose changes, that's fine, but a whole new mode? Create your own thread for that, please.
