I love the statues and how they look. It's fun to swim down and break them and atmospheric. After the event ends I really hope Rare gives us a reason to still go down and look for them. Scale back how common they are, but still make me want to seek them out. Other people have said this, but have them drop a jewel based on their color. Red. Blue. Green. Each of different value you can give to the gold hoarder.

@flippin-loud Right, but they should also continue to be part of the world and a part of the game for existing players to enjoy. They're literally pointless to everyone who's finished the event and that seems like a shame.
@tedakin so are the thrones.. im not arguing that it stinks we cant continue to benefit from the items like statues and thrones, it does, but so far from what i can tell, like the thrones, the statues will be there for the sole purpose of people who havent done them before to get commendations (without doubloons) in the future
@saintsphan16 there are no bilge rat events until after launch. I think statues are there just more rare. Can anyone confirm this?
@laughsmaniacaly why would they remove them and keep the commendations? Seems kind of silly. I wonder if they will bring them back into the world during cursed sails.
I've heard the sound from the statues as recently as yesterday, so they're still there. To what end (aside from commendations), I don't know.
I think it would be cool, however, if destroying a statue yielded a cursed cannonball of the same colour as the statue. The colours of the cannonballs seen in Wanda's shop roughly correlate to the colour of the gems in the statues, so its not entirely far fetched of an idea.
Plus, it gives incentive to those who've already got the commendations to continue destroying the statues.
